Regarding the heavy tanks, its the ability to cancel a hit that you’re paying for. Don’t underestimate how powerful this can be; many people insist that tanks in 1914 are broken until they actually buy some and use them to breakthrough the enemy lines.

Land Mines are a Single defense unit.

Defense: 4 (d20 system)Land mines can move (1). Must be activated to defend (country must state that mine is activated once placed or moved to desired territory). If an activated mine is attacked, a defensive roll is placed. Once rolled, activated mine is removed. Attacing units that are hit are removed as well. If mine is not activated and territory is taken, then its removed from play.
