How the hell are the Japs suppose to play with those rules?
I read the Alpha rule change:
“Major industrial complexes can only be built on originally controlled territories (this includes upgrading minor ones). Likewise they may no longer be upgraded when captured. Major industrial complexes are reduced to minor when captured. The original owner of the territory may upgrade it if the territory is recaptured”
to mean that they could build on territories that they originally control at the start of the game because now they cannot build a major IC in Hong Kong or Malaya.
So, the UK Pacific can build a major IC from scratch on Hong Kong and Malaya, but the Japanese cannot build one in Shanghai… which was more industrial than either of those other two added together in 1940 and they had controlled since 1931. The Germans can build a major IC in Romania, Poland, Hungary, Norway, but the Japs can’t build one in Shanghai. The Japs were the first to build factories in Shanghai after the First Sino-Japanses war around 1900, controled a large portion of the city since 1932, and fully occupies the entire city, and all it’s factories in 1937.
quote from Wikipedia:
"Japan built the first factories in Shanghai [after the First Sin-Japanese War], which were soon copied by other foreign powers. Shanghai was then the most important financial centre in the Far East. All this international activity gave Shanghai the nickname “the Great Athens of China”
That rule is about as hopelessly stupid as any they have come up with.
Now that I have that out of my system, let me look at the purchase changes…
