i just started playin this game and i cant quite figure a couple rules out, any one in the uk is stuck there unless you transport them out or what??

Yes. To move any land forces (INF, ART, ARM) across almost any body of water (exceptions being Suez Canal and Panama Canal) you MUST use tranport ships.
