I have conceded to Anchovy. I just got use to the 3.9 rules and have a few different games going on that rule set, its has been so many months since I played a A2 that I just can’t go through the brain damage of an A2 game in conjunction with A3.9.

Alpha 2 and Alpha 1 will be the forgotten guinea pig testing games. Many have tried and most fell asleep mid game, few have seen it through.

Yes, next years (weakly defined) tournament will be Alpha 3.9 with the option if both players want to reduce to Alpha 3.

I’d like to see a 4.0. Not saying 3.9 is necessarily bad or good, just that I see a couple of balance issues still - if the aim of Alpha is to make it perfectly balanced between the two sides, anyway. Again, not saying it should be perfectly balanced, just that it is not currently.

AA50 is not balanced, don’t hear people complaining about allies in 42 or 41 all day, they just do a bid and play if it bothers them so much.
Anyway, alpha3 / global is very all out. As long as you fully commit to objectives and capital battles like london,moscow,calcutta,newsouthwales/hawaii, you will find success as axis. For allies it is the same thing, liberate the dutch isles, convoy japan, take italy out the game by convoy or a hasty invasion, protect calcutta or buy a defense for london and get ready to push with russia if germany bought the sea lion.
I see lots of players taking london still and the russians are not ready to stack up in romania … and the allies concede, which is so weird, if you just going to concede at least attack germany, you can get 5-20% odds on the attack move to poland and buy bombers. People are so unwilling to do the basic stuff particularly on this forum. I hate people that quit without even trying to win, waste of time players .Can germany attack east poland and drop 18 in nov? yes, but east poland is a close fight for him 50/50 odds around there, he loses and blam NO money. It’s not like an infantry shuffle will take over russia G7 if the landings only started G3. Plus with all that cheddar on transports, the allies rush is much easier.
Anyway, it is just really funny how people play global right now. The lack of aggression / counter offensive is amazing. That is what I have to say to people that don’t like playing the allies.
As for people that say axis lose etc… I post the Japan strategy guide, since this is a pacific centric game, the people having a hard time winning with the axis are not blowing up in the pacific. Of course taking russia does not win you the game, this is not a europe centric game, still got egypt and london to go, if japan is rolling in the dirt, then it don’t matter.
I read Larry Harris’s game notes for 1941, I understand why he is frustrated.
At this point alpha 3.9 just requires people to play it the way it is meant to be played. The NOs and everything is fine.

Oh, I’ve seen and made Japan get some victories in my time! Everyone underestimates the power of Japan (which is especially true if Japan is smart and doesnt get bogged down in the meat grinder of Japan - expect if expecting and setting up German aid)

Just go for the pacific win. India around J5 (sooner if possible). Then it is difficult for allies to save russia while stopping japan from winning.

It can be done, I’ve seen it, but it’s not easy. Then again, with how paranoid players are getting over India, just getting that is becomming a challenge.

Also if you do the J1 DoW, can hit java if you want to, I tend to ignore it and do the other many battles. It goes to india, no biggie, I take the isles stabilize my position in south east asia. Then when the fighters go away, I surge west australia with 6-8 guys. I get blocked sometimes from taking new south wales, but that is okay, fly all the air to west aussie and take it the round after, 2 e z.

what do you mean? he has 1 transport and 1 cruiser in the atlantic only. He has to buy and place before he can start doing stuff.

plus he lost dd sub and fighter on J1. he has to replace that in the pacific, technically he can go full atlantic instead, but that just makes japan roll face.

I stand by this statement. A J1 DOW on America, given all else is equal, is a sub-prime move.
