Curse all your transports!!! :-D
Very tough to deal with all of them. Now I’m really really really glad I was able to pick off that one group of UK ships a few rds ago.
-
Yeah, I agree you would really be in trouble had you not gotten those 4 transports, battleship and 2 carriers. However, it didn’t end up being SUCH a big deal in the end because you had to build 3 carriers to make the move and you then built two more Italian carriers, and then they were all destroyed with minimal losses by the Allies.
-
One thing is for sure, I have never had 40 transports before!!

Yeah, overall it probably turned out to be a wash (in ipcs), but the delay was much more valuable to the Axis then the ipc count since the Axis have the long term adv. You had to rebuild transports but I don’t need to rebuild a navy. Just gave me more time to pump out inf and armor and get in better position to try and lock down potential key landing zones.

Yeah, I kind of regretted the Ita ACs. I think I needed at least 1 (maybe not) to cover from the UK air but at the time I was thinking of maybe branching out since the US fleet was still in the Pac.
For Germany, I was going to buy a blocker DD anyway and then sort of saw I could hit the fleet so it turned into 42 ipc instead of 8. I was really tempted to try only 2 ACs but didn’t like the attack with only 4 ftrs and 1 bom (I think) so I went safe with 3 ac so I could bring all reachable ftrs.Which brings me to a strat question. You can answer this later if you want. I’d love to talk strat after the game.
Did you always intend to bring the US fleet over from the Pac?
To me it seemed like more of a reaction to Fortress Japan and the Axis AC buys and sinking of UK ships.
Or did you hope to secure a spot in Asia but couldn’t find one?To me (and I could be wrong), but I felt the game really turned against you (ended) once you left Asia.
I can’t remember that well (in terms of your options) but I have to admit I was happy to see them essentially conceding Asia. Did you consider making a last stand in Asia?I do have a suggestion for the Pac, but it’ll have to wait till after the game. So feel free to remind me.
And if you want wait until after the game to respond that is fine too.
One thing is for sure, I have never had 40 transports before!!

Yeah, that’s too many! :-D

I will be happy to talk strategy after the game, and happy to answer all those questions, they are good ones.
In the meantime, there’s a lot of great action yet to be had in this game!

DM, when you say you think the game ended when I left Asia, what do you mean?

I thought that might have been your best chance. Either try and stake a claim in Man (or Fic/Bur) and slug it out there. I Thought it was a very neat move to load up the Russian troops and thought you might make an attack on Japan or stack in SE Asia.
Once you left Russia (which I think was the right move) I thought you were going all out for Japan so once you left Asia I think it pretty much guarenteed the Axis an IPC adv and gave Japan a bit of a breather. Seemed like you moved to a Plan B or C, which is why I asked if you always intended to move the US to the Med. Once you left Asia, I don’t think time was on your side. I feel I can just play extremely conservatively (attack in Sz 15 not withstanding) and just make sure I stack Japan/Ger/Ita appropriately and cover Mos. Germany’s army alone equals pretty much all the Allies put together. I just felt you had a better shot at Japan, then at any place in Eu.Italy on the Way.
