G40 Tourney Discussion/question(s)

Maybe we take the loser from Round 1 who got the most rounds in before conceding to go ahead and play in the winner’s bracket spot for the 8th game.
This makes no sense. Some players would have kept playing their game if they had known this…Plus, it encourages players to always keep playing as long as they can for future rounds(and in Global, finishing to the end a player can take some weeks in play by forum).
If we are to get a player from the losers bracket, then i propose we:
1- Ask officially who’s interested
2- leave a few days for everyone to get a chance to read it
3- give a number to each player and publicly roll a dice to see which one won the lottery. -
The bracket, at least for the winners, will go with winner of game one vs winner of game two, etc. So you should at least be able to trash talk your opponent.
I’ll open bids for round 2 next Friday (28 October). I have some real life concerns that will be resolved on Thursday.
To fill the missing spot, anyone who lost round 1 that wants to continue may PM me. I’m not sure we have enough players for a redemption bracket so we may not have one. I’ll collect the PMs, list out the constestants and figure out some way to D6 roll for who gets the spot. (Course, a D20 might be better, if only the site supported it!)

OK, but the empty slot is #14, so the lottery winner will play in that slot then?

I PMed Jen to count me in if you are short players.
Cmdr Jennifer,
Maybe we take the loser from Round 1 who got the most rounds in before conceding to go ahead and play in the winner’s bracket spot for the 8th game.
Whats wrong with this. Finishing prematurely is never a good idea.

I was actually thinking of you when I wrote that TDS. That game with Karl was a fast-paced marathon.

Yeah we did chew through the rounds. I always fight to the death, you never know what those dice will do next.

First I would like to thank you Jenn for all the work you’ve put into this tourney, I know it’s been complicated with people not showing up and possible rule changes like Alpha 3. You have even had to handle bids, rule questions, and even complaints. Hosting a tournament like this is never easy but you have done a wonderful job.
As a loser of round 1 I would prefer a redemption bracket if at all possible, if not I understand. If there is just one open spot for a loser of round 1 to continue. I would rather someone else receive that opportunity.
Thanks again for your efforts and good luck with whatever you decide.

A.P.B.:
Any knowledge on the whereabouts on Game 6?
Game 6:
i rock - Allies
vs
Zcion - Won the bid with a bid of three (3) (infantry), AxisIt looks like we may have to take 2 players that were unsuccessful in Round 1

On Monday, 31 October 2011, I will look to take any number of round 1 losers or fresh blood to fill the roster for round 2. I’d rather take the winners, but it seems we have a few missing players (most likely due to the new rule set being out and some players just not wanting to play Alpha 2 anymore.)
Round 1 losers will have priority over fresh blood, due to “first come, first served” issues. I just think it’s more fair for someone who was here and signed up to take priority over someone who just dropped in.

If you have PMed me with a game update and it has not been updated yet, be assured I am getting to it. I had a career fair last week and one this week, so I have been remarkably busy. And yes, I am tired of teaching snot nosed brats who could care less if they know mathematics because they’re going to play {insert sport here} for the rest of their lives. /sigh.

Not at all ^^
Just saw the title before, never looked the thread :)

Jen, both LL and I don’t think we can continue.
Our game only just started rd 2. And its a little hard to devote time to learning G40 with the end of the league coming up.If two players wanted to pick up our game, that’d be fine, or I suppose someone will get a bye in rd 2.
Sorry about that. I’ll still be around as secondary Mod for the tourney.

When does Round 1 officially end?

When does Round 1 officially end?
2359 hours on 31 October 2011, Central Standard Time which I think is GMT -6

Game 2:
BigBadBruce- Won the bid with a bid of six (6) IPCs (submarine in SZ 113), Axis
vs
Zcion BigBadGoo - AlliesAllies resign during USA combat phase #7.
A very (like VERY) unlucky roll cause USA unable to take Rome…Link : http://www.axisandallies.org/forums/index.php?topic=24744.0

Recorded. Yes that roll did suck for the attacker!
We currently have 3 games unresolved. A decision will have to be made by the end of the first round, so get your strategies in gear, time is short! Round 2 starts (officially) as soon as I post the matchings on 1 November.
Those who have lost that want to participate in round two, please PM me.

I need war reports from games that are not yet closed. Those would be games 1, 6 and 9.
In your private message send me a link to your game. Tell me what your plans are for the next few rounds and how you intend to win the game. I will then go through and assign a “winner.”
I also need to know which players from the redemption circle want to continue on with the tournament. I’ll put together a list (like the one for signing up for the tournament) and throw dice to find out who gets to stay and recover. Just so we can have a nice, pretty bracket system.
ROUND ONE officially ends in 88 minutes.
