First, Annual Global 1940 Tournament - Sign-ups open!

Also, this gives me a chance to prove or disprove the balance issues that have been discussed in a formal and public forum. :)

@Cmdr:
Booger has a good point, another one is that Alpha 3 is completly untested and unverified by the gaming community (how could it be otherwise? He has not released it to the general public yet.) Granted, he has taken advice from some of those who posted on his boards to create Alpha 3, but that does not satisfy my concern that there could be a fundamental flaw, nor would anyone know how to bid.
Perhaps round 2 could be alpha 2 or alpha 3 and leave it up to the players playing it to determine which version they wish. It would give us 6-8 weeks to review it before deciding.
If there are arguments to be made to delay for the new rule set, I am open minded, but from what I have heard/seen so far, I am not convinced it is a good idea.
It doesn’t happen very often, but for once, i completely agree with you !!

Stick to Alpha 2 and have an Alpha 3 tournament later in the year, or whenever.

I agree.
I’m good with if both players agree to use Alpha 3 starting on tournament round 2 (to give the moderators time to get familiar with the rules as well so we can better handle disputes) then they can, but if at least one player disagrees and wants to play Alpha 2, then it is an Alpha 2 tournament.
Perhaps, in November, we can have a 2-on-2 Alpha 3 tournament.

When are we getting our opponents assigned and when will our bid deadline be?
-
I believe we have a new opening, Questioneer only wants to play the new rule set, that is not even out yet, but I will have assignments posted no later than Sunday.

If you need a fill-in I can play.
I’ve never played G40 before, but assuming you can download the rules I can read up this weekend or whenever we get started.

On the tournament rules, I’d suggest sticking with Alpha 2 all the way through. We can always start up an Alpha 3 tourney late fall/early winter once people get knocked out and its been played for a month or two. Just my two cents there.
Also, I don’t know if you were considering turn limits for moves, but I think after the AA50-41 tourney concludes, I’ll probably do all mine with a 72 hour turn limit. So if three days go by and no moves, your opponent can post “bump” which would equal a warning. You get 3 warnings before DQ. Exceptions for vacations/holidays, etc.
We had issues in the current '41 tourney so that’s why I brought it up. Let me know and I can go into more detail or help you out.

Yes, we already have a time limit, but I am flexible on warnings due to real life. Just don’t make it a habbit.

Excellent suggestion… I would play that new Alpha 3 Tourney, no matter my result in Alpha 2.

I forgot I have a party to host on Sunday, Brackets will be posted on Saturday most likely, or either really early on Sunday or really late on Sunday. Sorry for any inconvenience this might be. I just got my doctorate, so my family wants to have a party. (P.h. D. in Mathematics)
