if you get two hits in round 1 the outcome is obvious.  if you get one hit, kill the destroyer and the sub will submerge.  if you get no hits, the sub will fight again in round two, with the same criteria holding.  remember, the russian sub gets a sneak shot, and if it hits, the german sub does not get to fire.
