Hi guys, I was wondering if someone could give me some insight into changing some stuff in triple A. I am wanting to make a 2 turn game where all the axis can move at once then all of Allies.(UK being one economy). Also changing a few of the PU placements etc.

I am not a Axis & Allies player, but I play a lot with Conquest of Nerath. I like this zombie version.
I believe that can be improved.
These are my house rules
Deadnapper convoys revised . Add to existing rule: Shore zombie bombardment In a amphibious assault your transport can fire once against zombies: score an hit . Its attack value is (3).

Strong Neutrals: When a zombie card create an outbreak in a neutral territory add 6 zombie in 2 IPC territories (Turkey and Spain )and 3 in the other (1 IPC value) territories -(“call us neutral not zombies !”)

Zombie apocalypse revised (not so easy allies victory ).The side that controlls the greates number of zombie-free territories wins. In case of tie who controll the greatest IPC value of zombie-free territories win.
Different set up every game . Starting purchase : place everywhere pieces on the game board in territories/sea zones (example I have not text this )
add 4 IPC Russia
add 3 IPC Germany
and 6 IPC UK
add 8 IPC Japan. /
add - IPC to US
I try also to use Nerath deployment rules:
Moving New Pieces: Once you have placed your new pieces,they can immediately move from the space where you placed them to any friendly space they can reach with their Move. Doing this lets you position new troops to defend against enemy counterattack. New Warships carrying new land pieces can immediately move, carrying those pieces, and unload them in a friendly land space. However, you cannot move an existing Warship that you placed new land pieces on. Enemy Sea Spaces: You cannot place your new Warships and Storm Elementals in enemy sea spaces, even though they can move after you place them
If you have 14/16 Ipc to spent you can immediately reinforce a new conquered territory by boat or make a land invasion more easy.
It seems that this variant helps more the Allies
What you think about gameplay(forget realism,you are playing with zombie ;-) ) ?

Played our first game of 1914 tonight and had a blast. Afterwards, we brainstormed some additional house rules (because gamers, I suppose), and one stuck out. Before I say this, let me note this is a very casual crowd.

Rule: A neutral minor power when attacked by one faction or the other sides with the one that did not attack it. If it is able to repel the invasion, it becomes a fully functioning member of the alliance it joined. It has IPCs, builds units, deploys them, and attacks.

Cause: Almost no reason not to attack some of these nations. Defeat means nothing- the scale of units involved means a small handful of units lost is not a true blow. The potential IPC gain outweighs the risk in all but a few instances. By making neutral powers a bigger threat, hopefully players will only attack those they deem important to a war winning strategy and not just as random acts of violence for IPC gain. This can lead to silliness with Switzerland and the Nordic countries along with Spain among others.

Mechanics: New factions get 6/8 IPCs plus whatever IPC total is on their territories. From this point we had some disagreement:
1- They are a fully active faction with no restrictions.
2- They can only attack the faction that attacked them and their territories.
3- They can only counter attack into the territories that the attack against them was launched

Good post Black_Elk, also what do you use against allied fighters that destroy your transports because destroyers sometimes don’t always defend them.

Since A&A 1914 came out, I’ve been looking to import some of the rules from there into the Global 1940 game. The rule I’ve been eyeing most is the contested territory mainly, but as this is mainly a result of the limited combat rounds I feel it may limit the game too much. That was until I thought this could be a perfect time to implement oil rules! If you used oil to “buy” extra combat rounds as needed, this could simulate supplying your army as they attack. This really allows the use of the contested territory rules without the limiting effects of a hard one-round cap on combat, as well as limit territory exchanges. I thinking something along the lines of:

**Oil Refinery
Cost: 12-15
Move: 0
Attack: 0
Defense: 0 (AA ability)

Oil Refinery: Oil refineries give the nation that possesses it 3 oil tokens. These refineries can be built in any land territory you control that can support an oil refinery i.e. a territory such as the Caucasus or Romania (places that had a historical set of oilfields during the conflict); you can only have one per territory.**

I prefer simplicity. I prefer to have them operate like minor ICs except their bonus is one research die per turn instead of producing units. (when not damaged). I’m okay with a cap of 1 tech per turn. I’ll pass on the captured technology raid rule. I think having your enemy capture your research facility (and the free roll each turn after that) is reward enough.

Having them operate like minor ICs let’s you build them on 2 iPc territories, which is necessary if someone like Anzac hopes to ever acquire any technology.

Overall it’s a great concept.

It wasn’t a “contest” of any kind.

I simply don’t see that this rule is necesary, especially with the new units now being produced.

To each his own, though. Have FUN should always be our #1 rule. Enjoy.

heres some manageable rules to use:

I most like the part about destroyer and crusier negate submarine’s preemptive fire on a 1-to-1 basis (rather than unlimited in AAR).

Simple enough to implement for even first time players. Yet quite effective in improving gameplay dynamics.
