This is my first game I’ve played Axis where I have not done a Sealion, and it looks scary to have a UK that is alive and kicking.
You’re right for UK, specially with EUS who just started a serious fleet to go with the UK. I’m reasoning along these lines : even if Moscou fall now (but it will take some time anyway), i will try to replace it with another victory city that i will be able to hold ( Egy, Italy, Fra…).
The strange Japanese opening in the pacific really made me think…Last time i saw that - i mean the gathering of all fleet in sz in range of Haw on J1- it was a Kill America First attempt, with Germany who builded 4 more tr, and warships on G2, then Gib G3 for Eus G4…So i was kinda nervous and decided to DOW Japan with UK-Anzac to give you any incentive to forgive about KAF if it was the intention. It’s the 1st time i DOW Japan on 1st turn with allies, but Japan was so out of position, i couldn’t resist.
I do have an america tactic, but it would only work once …
I do have another tactic that I may try. I think I’d like you to be allies next time, to see if it is just me, or if 8 cities is a bridge too far.
Are your other games coming down along the same lines? Russia is too tough to take before Allies establish themselves?
Well, i have to say : no. My other games don’t lead me to conclude that Russia is too strong. It just takes more time to get it than in any other version of AA. Actually, it is rare that i finally have the chance to do the final fight in Moscou because my oponents have a tendency to concede the game before it happens.
NOTE: i think you forgot to place a sub in sz113. Stirling can add it with J3.

sure. but maybe you will defend well and it won’t work. Actually, i have to say : when the allies are going 100% after Japan (you might have heard about that big theory :lol: :lol: in the 50pages thread about balance…), i get to take moscou. And then, once moscou is down, there is no getting it back. Ever.
Now, if you’re the kind of player who can spend at least 40- 50% of your US income in the atlantic AND stay in control in the pacific, then i have to say : now my only chance if you make no blunder, is to win in the pacific, and very often, that will be a kind of gamble. While if you go 100% pacific for 8 rounds (this number from the popular theory), then the german push in russia gets irresistible and the outcome of the game is no more a gamble as in the pacific, it’s just maths…
