prefer sending files back and forth. started thread if you want to do germany. really liberal with edits-moving pieces forgotten etc. like the idea of making decisions for your opponent such as scramble, submerge, intercept, casualties etc. to move game along. I hate sitting down to play and after a few minutes have to wait for scramble decision. you can just play in local mode if you like. Who has kicked your behind more often then not, and who is the BEST Axis and Allies player on the site? In your Opinion? Other then yourself of course :P
I can appreciate that some of you may feel this question should be VERSION specific. But I believe at the heart of the matter, it shouldn’t matter what version you play, there is a truth and quality inherent to the skill of the game.
If you must know, the objective outcome of the question will pertain specifically to Global 1940. But Any of the basic games including Classic, Europe, Pacific, Revised, 1942, E40, P40, Anniversary, can also be used as a gauge.

All I can say is that the best AA player is definitely NOT me.
But you might want to clarify, or specify, what version of AA since an expert on one game version might be only average on another.

I don’t play online. I have no record. Go search the records by year in the tournaments results.
Only time i played was back in 97-99 on MSN game zone and i played MB edition. I seldom lost and played every day like 2 games over years. To me that was perfection and i would never even try these ugly, cheesy looking low end maps.

To some extent, I can agree with your sentiments. However, the rules between versions can be very different.
Sometimes it’s that little difference in knowing the rules well enough to understand their nuances that can make good player be a great player.Perhaps it’s my age or limited playing time that I can commit, but I prefer to focus on only one rule set at a time. I would rather be great at one version of the game then be average at all of them.

My suggestion is to troll the tournament/league area for some of the players with better records. That would be a good start.

I have played Axis Roll back at AAMC and will say he is a fine player. Both of them, as there are two. Although I have only played one game on this forum, I’d say He(they) are the best players here I know of. There are a lot of outstanding players in the world that do not use this forum. If you think you are good and want some competition, sign up for a tourney at AAMC or DAAK.

That is a good point about other online clubs.
AAWC (http://axisandalliesworldclub.org/forums/index.php) is another online clube with quality players, but those players are mainly focused on 2nd / 3rd edition (CD-Rom)

So many great players. Yoshi, Zhukov44, Gamerman, Func, Gargantua, Anchovy, axis_roll, and I’m sure I’m leaving people out. I’m so glad I’ve found this place… I went from being barely the best player in my group to dominating it entirely. Although my new level has brought the overall play of my group up as well.
Though I mostly play AA50 '41–I don’t think I’ve seen anyone as consistently good as Yoshi at it. Arm twisted and though we’ve never played, he gets my vote.

Soul I agree with you this place is great.
I am used to only play AAR and I am yet to lose a game. However on here I have never won a game.
This says two things:
1.) My friends are rubbish
2.) The players on here are very goodI would say it is a combination of both

It’s been a long time since I’ve played zhukov. He only does PBEM and I stopped doing PBEM games and forfeited a bunch so it’s been ages since we’ve played :(.
I will put faith in zhukov, because his win loss ratio justifies it. 19 wins - 1 loss out of 20 games for axis. 16 win 4 loss for allies. On this forum he’s positive as well.
He is on the more tactical/conservative side. I am on the more aggressive/overall strategy side.
~dessert fox… PBEM and Forum games are very different than live games. In a real life game the dice is in your hands and sometimes you just want to roll some dice.
I am already aggressive in online play. In real life I take aggression to an extreme and put a whole game on crack.
~online my russia tends to do battles I know I can win, unless I get a good 50/50 and my losses will be only inf and the chance I have for victory has a huge payout. Real life games are totally different. Russia is balls deep half the time.
