This would be interesting to play out. Something would have to be done with the UK navy off Australia or else they could just take it. Maybe putting two inf on the island would be a deterrent. I imagine it would fall to America whenever they felt like taking it out, since they can outspend JP by 12 ipcs. If Japan sends all it’s navy there then Russia and UK are laughing. It would be nice to have more options in the Pacific but I still think it’s not enough to threaten America and would only distract Japan.
Aah, much better, many thanks :) (The problem is I have only about 500 MB left on my HD, so I simply can’t afford to keep your .pdf’s on my laptop  )
Something else I’ve been pushing for for years is a wider Atlantic ocean. Make it a minimum two turn hop over the pond and the Germans might just have a realistic chance of stopping the US from pumping in troops here, and perhaps force them to think about a Pacific assault.
Making subs cheaper might have helped, but then anything that delays the Axis from moving maximum units to Caucasus/Moscow ASAP seems pure folly… that damned capture the capital rule really does narrow down the options when playing to win at all costs.
Overall the changes are positive imho. Revised is a classic game and deserves another run and the chance to appeal to a new generation. AA42 takes the best innovations from Anniversary (ie naval rules and units) and applies them to Revised. It should be interesting to see how the strategies change. It’s also a good move to remove tech–Revised works better w/o tech because tech is about luck and detracts from the strategic aspect. With dice, luck is already a sufficient factor in the game.
