You can’t take the potshot if the sub submerges… which it will do in the absense of a dd.

that being the case, the sub is still alive. So, you may want to redo your cruiser/sub moves…

hm, reading the rule book it would seem you can, as attacking subs roll first before others can roll (which is when the defending sub can choose to submerge).

Before any combat, in the absense of a dd, the sub can choose to submerge. If it’s not in the rule book, it’s in the FAQ. Sub can submerge before anything happens unless a dd is present.

I haven’t read in the rule book for a long time, but that’s how it’s played in Anni. You wouldn’t believe all the revisions that Harris did in the FAQ on the sub rules. That rule book is written terribly and some clown failed miserably on the editing.
Feel free to ask some other players. Also, if you ever play on triple A it follows the same set of rules from the FAQ.
