Generally pacific builds consists of a 2 to 1 ratio of subs-destroyer. Following turn is 5-6 bombers. This forces Japan to start building fleet instead of troops for India/China crush.
I just had to give som additional thumbs up fo9r this comment :D Buying other combat ships than subs, dds (Or CW + ftrs) is rarely correct. the 2 to 1 ratio shos that sean knows how fodder works and how it is the most important thing in these battles.
The only reason to stop buying the subs is if japan for some reason dont respond with fleetbuilding and only buys planes instead. But then you should win anyways :D
which is why i said that it didn’t work against a too planeheavy japan. on theory, the DDs + other surface ships ofc needs to be enough to stop all the planes of japan + 2 rounds of plane only builds of japan.
What would prevent japan from attacking your fleet of subs-destroyers with air and a few destroyers. With 20+ planes they can whipe out your whole fleet with minimal losses as subs cant even hit the planes.
I normaly go for a carrier heavy fleet followed by subs destroyers for attacking power. Ideally i want my carriers to bait an early attack from japan that i can crush in the counter and get his carriers and BB out of the way so anzac and UKP can clean up the rest.
Need clarifycation for Global rules…

My question is best asked through the example:
Air and land units attacked an unfriendly territory. All attacking land forces were destroyed. The attacking air units retreated to an adjacent friendly territory. However, that friendly territory has no AA or land units. On the next turn the defender becomes the attacker. He attacks the territory that the air units have landed on with land forces. Since there is no AA or defending land units what happens to the air units on that territory? What if a territory only has defending air units? Can they be destroyed by attacking air units. Are they presumed on the runway or scrambled?
How many times can air units press their attack on defending land forces? How many times can a bomber attack an industry or base? If air units attack a territory that has an AA,industry, air and naval bases do all the AA guns get to fire in defense of the territory? Is it the same for a strategic bombing run or does only the targeted infrastructure defend with AA?
Sorry about all the questions at once. I hope the questions make sense. Thanks for the help.

If all defending units are air units then combat is conducted as normal. Air units should never retreat to an adjacent territory if they have enough movement points to get to friendly units. In normal combat air units fire each combat round. Bomber attacks on ICs and bases are for one round only. Attacker declares which unit he is bombing and only that units built in AA fires.

Welcome, Mr. Nobody!

Units always defend normally in general combat unless the rules specifically state otherwise. Also, any kind of unit can hit any other kind of unit unless the rules specifically state otherwise.
@Mr.:
How many times can air units press their attack on defending land forces?
As many times as they like.
@Mr.:
How many times can a bomber attack an industry or base?
Once per turn.

AA guns fire only in attacks against combat units in their territory. Facilities use their AA fire only in strategic bombing raids directed against them.
