I went when I was really young. I think I mainly visited resorts and amusement parks.
Mario or sonic
-
MARIO :-P
-
Mario undeniably.
Sonic is just an imitator. Like Pepsi is of Coke.
-
Why is everyone talking about pepsi vs coke here!
Also I pick Sonic, Mario’s a drunk on wine Italian that doesn’t know what the hell he’s doing.
He’s also Nintendo’s maskot!
This is how it is,
Mario is raping Sega, and there like this will be the end of Sega; NES defeats the Master System. Then Sonic comes even it outs a bit, but still Nintendo pulls out victory and Mario is becoming drunk. Then Sony comes and Crash Bandicoot rapes Mario! Crash thinks hes important, but teen games are pumping and Sega is playing quietly while Mario get’s raped everyday by Crash! Sony wins!
-
Mario beat the big monkey and saved the girl.

Pesi vs. Coke: because it is everywhere.
Mario-Sonic-Crash: Dylan I think you are a bit confused, or uninformed. Crash and Sonic barely exist these days but as memories of their 15 minutes of glory. Like it or not, the drunk Italian plumber is King of video games and will be forever more. I have no facts at my hands, but I would bet that sales of Mario related games and merchandise are astronomical compared with sales for the other two “imitators”.
-
Where else can you conquer the world and get a nice princess w. a plumber team?!… :-D
oh and push some turtles arround w/o giving greenpeace a heartattack 8-) :-PMario got my vote!
-
Well if the Wii had any thing besides Mario games that were any good we’d likely have ‘forgotten’ him as well.

Not entirely. I don’t have a Wii, and I don’t play its Mario games… but the franchise was immortalized on NES and Super Nintendo (my favorite) and further solidified as a popular market on the N64.
I’m just saying that it is an unchallengable point that Mario and his other Nintendo offshoots are the most popular and beloved of console games.

Look the Sony PS2 is the best selling system of all time (with the exception of handheld systems)
The Wii is only doing well because old farts like stuff like wii fit!

Is it really? I didn’t know that. Still… we were talking about game franchises, not game systems.
Personally, I don’t like the Wii that much. It’s sort of cool in a novel way, but I prefer traditional controllers. I really like the XBox 360… even though I don’t have one of those. Playstationis okay, but they are basically all the same, just better graphics and performance in the newer ones.

PS3 will defeat the X box 360
Cratos owns Master Chief
Sackboy owns Mario -

Cratos is in God of War III
Sack boy is in Little big Planet.Hmm Mario, oh I remember yeah the NES like in what year again? 86? Hmm okay cya later.

Yeah, so. It is a tribute that such an old game is still popular and well liked. You didn’t see sonic out back then did you?
Besides… (I have played Sonic before but) what is the point of Sonic? Is there a plot or storyline… or do you just run through levels getting rings?
-
My contention is not that Mario is unpopular but more that if the Wii had anything other than Mario games that stood above its shovelware he’d have been pushed aside by now. Mario only has a present because of his past and even in the present he is still in the last generation of gaming.
Yes, Mario’s popularity is undeniable but his persistence at this point is largely because of nostalgia. You may not yet heard of Sackboy from PS3’s and PSP’s “Little Big Planet” but Sackboy at this point certainly has a bigger part in video games’ future than Mario.
In LBP games you can create and share your own levels and starting in LBP2 you’ll be able to create your own GAMES. http://www.littlebigworkshop.com/en-us/
I’ve played some user created levels that outmatch anything the actual developers put on the game disc. Amazing stuff while the Mario game I played for the Wii looked and played pretty much like the N64 game.

I agree with the Nostalgia aspect to the Mario franchise… and I will be the first to say that the newer Mario games get, the worse they are. I have never played Wii Mario, and I don’t really have a desire to because if I wanted to play a game like that, I’d go play the Super Nintendo version. The older games are just better. They are more original and more difficult… I will also say that they are pushing the limits of what can be done with the franchise. You can only collect Stars, or Shines or whatever else so many times before it gets utterly repeatative. I’d almost rather have the beautiful memory of a few immortal Mario games than have them keep making more and risk killing the spirit of the game.
As for LBP: I wouldn’t be opposed to trying it, but I won’t go out of my way to. My gaming has cut down over the past few years because I have many better things to do at this point in life… so I probably won’t be getting hardcore into any new games. Mostly I just play socially when we have get togethers with my cousins… we play Axis&Allies and then go play Medal of Honor or something.

Well I like playing Sonic games, but in the new one you get turn into a “wearhog” and slash people, that was my favorite Sonic game.
-
I’m the only one who voted for Sonic.

Yeah… that’s kinda lonely.
Slashing people/things sounds a bit more fun. (In games :-D)

Come on Mario has tea-bagged so many things. Sonic is just, doing what he does and not raping them!
