Nope by 1812 I don’t thik anything too important was still going on, but the Ottoman Empire will be sending supplies ships to France, if the UK’s navy don’t sink em.

Well they did in the War of 1812 document I saw, so I think they did.

You wouldn’t find any infantry armed primarily with swords.
Cavalry sure but not infantry.
I think Mr. Marc and the Emperor gave you some very good info on that subject.

And to confuse things, :-D Ottawa wasn’t the capital of Canada. Quebec City and York (Toronto) were the capitals of Lower and Upper Canada respectively.
So, probably more suited for VC conditions than “capture the flag” victories!

I think the weapon of the day was a musket that could be fixed with a bayonet. Swords were more a decorative object. The bayonet charge was a fixture up to and including world war I. Perhaps swordsmen would have a +1 ability to pick strawberries or cut hay with the swords. Perhaps offer a bonus of +1 to farmers when working with swordsmen to defeat a field of wheat?
If your gonna have swordsmen, why not include ninjas, panzers, and death stars while your at it.
The death star should be able to do offplanet bombardment with no chance of casualties returning fire. Ninjas should be able to attack units and capture them, say a 1/6 chance of taking over an enemy unit. Also there should be provisions for a trojan horse full of greek swordsmen. They can kill the enemy greek style with their long weapons.
