Hearts of Iron 3

Dont misunderstand, if played poorly, or at all historicaly (which is what an AI controled France usually does) France falls like a house of cards during the German blitz in 1940. However, the game dose give you the flexability to change all that, espically if you start early enough, like in 1936. If you, as France, make some minor administraitive changes, a few leaderships changes, and revise French forigen and domestic military policy, you will have a real power house on your hands.
France did have the largest army in western Europe during the opening of WW2, and you can still have such a force, but if you play it right and learn from the mistakes of history, this force will romp the Germans come 1939.
I can recall an advertising poster I saw for the game once, it was a picture of the marines raising the flag on Iwo Jima, but instead of the stars and stripes, its was the nazi flag. The tag-line read, “History is in you hands……Dont screw it up” -
But still their France, that should be enough said.

It is never as simple as all that

With the acception of France!
I accept. France was pretty cool.

Have you been? Have you ever seen a sexy French woman speak? Have you ever tried a nice French wine? Strolled by or ate in a patesserie?
Cause if you had, you wouldn’t say crap like that.

OK, enough. Dylan, This thread is ment to be about the Hearts of Iron game, not about your immature need to bash the French. In game terms, France is a fun power to play. They have alot of potential for a player to sieze upon and mold into a force capable of taking down the mighty Wermacht. If you have nothing else to add on the subject of the game, please stop posting in here

I’m running an interesting game right now. I joined the war from day 1 as the US with the Allies, and right now I’m in August '41. Since February, my landing force of about 250,000 men has held the thin peninsula of Denmark, whilst the lazy AI did nothing. Seriously, UK hasn’t done a thing except sit on their isles and do nothing, but my landing force has held. On one occasion, 167,000 US troops held off about 1,175,000 German, Austrian (Germany didn’t do the Anschluss, and Austria consequently joined the Axis), Italian, and Hungarian troops, inflicting twice as many casaulties as taken.
I’m literally soloing the axis powers, as the Soviet Union didn’t even enter the war yet, as Germany didn’t trigger Barbarossa. They didn’t even do the MR-Pact, they just annexed Poland on their own.
-
That awesome!! The UK ai really dose suck, they never send more then airforces to support me when I play as France, and I really need their help most times.
The poland thing and the no MR pact is intresting. When you change the historical situation in a major way, like the US being in the allies in 39, the rest of the game tends to go alittle screwy. I have a LAN game where my firend and I have teamed up as Japan and Nationalist China, and I cant tell you how off things have gotten! -

It was for Commandos 3! I remember that xD

I’ve been playing HoI2 for several years and Hearts of Iron 2: Darkest Hour is by far the best expansion of the Hoi series. Not only does it give you the option of playing a WWI scenario but it also eliminates a lot of the annoying bugs like lagging in the later years. In my experience the game runs nearly as fast in 1955 as it does in 1936. It also increases AI effectiveness. Anyone ever interested in a game of HoI message me.

I just downloaded Darkest Hour about a month ago and have been playing it almost non-stop! I love the world war 1 scenario, I have the German stratgey for invading France down to a science, with big en-circlements along the border and destroying their army rather the slogging it out with them. Im also pretty good with Austria-Hungary, espically since im the one who starts the war, i can wait till i get my armies into position before lighting the powder keg, its soo much fun!

I just got Hearts if Iron 3 today. It’s a good game.
I played until October 3rd. I took Poland by 16 September, Luxembourg by 21 September, and Belgium is about to fall. I am trying to execute the Schlieffen Plan. I haven’t declared war on the Nedtherlands yet. -
I never managed to get the online working with my friend. We could never connect to each other.
-
I own Hearts Of Iron, Hearts Of Iron II (& Doomesday) and Hearts Of Iron III. I love HOI2 and still play it today. I’ve owned HOI3 for about a year or so now and have read the manual but never played it.

I have found the 3rd game quite difficult to get into, the interface is very different and alot of the old familiar controls are gone. I hear that with all the various updates and patches that the game has gotten better but I haven’t played it yet

HOI1 is the only one i won, i really like it, I want the HOI2 with the Doomsday Exstension. Also, their is a exspansion thats 1933-1965

Yeah its called the Darkest days mod and it is Great! you can download it from Steam for a couple of bucks and its well worth it. It also has a 1914 scenario but don’t play that one past like 1925 as the creators of it apparently forget to include the history of the 20’s and stupid things stat happening, like Woodrow Wilson still being president in 1925 :-P
-
W.W. could have still been president in 1925.
There were no term limits until Truman.
