• Anyone have a recommendation for a book on quotes. I know there is one generally considered the best(?don’t recall the name?), but am willing to look for allternatives.
    10 Q n advance for your response!

    “Doh!”

  • Xi, if you’re that obsessed with quotes (and I am myself), try the “The Book of Ancient Proverbs.” I don’t know it they still print it since it was before my grandfather’s time (he had had the book since childhood). It’s not one of those sissy books, this thing its fairly thick and beautifully hard covered.

Three of these quotes are a favorite of mine:

“He who borrows sells his freedom.” – German proverb

“Many hands makes work light.” – Chinese proverb

“He who roars like a Lion often lacks the heart of one.” – African proverb

  • Just buy your favorite Albumn  Thats where I get mine from.

  • I use the Oxford Concise Dictionary of Quotations. It’s small, compact, and contains thousands of quotes.

  • Well nothing says small and pocket sized like the word “concise”

  • my favorite quote is from my personnal hero… all the quality are in him.

    he’s a good american
    he’s rigth-wing
    he hate french
    he’s a christian

    If you’re not a born-again Christian, you’re a failure as a human being.

    Jerry Falwell.

    A pure genius

  • some of my faverites are:

" and now for something completly diferent"

    • John Cleese

“For those who understand no explanation is needed, …For those who don’t, none will do”.

    • Jerry Lewis

  • mini_phreek,
I know Jerry Lewis, but who’s John Cleese?

  • John Cleese, I think, is an actor known for his participation with Monty Python. What is your favorite color?

“To die is to die, but to live is to fight.”

  • John Cleese was the tall one. he played sir lancalot in holy grail. he was resintly in the movie Rat Race. if that rings a bell

  • Gotcha. Haha… those British. Funny types they are

“It’s the fierce Killer Rabbit. Run away! Run away!”

  • John Cleese was also in Erik The Viking-with Tim Robbins. Very cool movie! I haven’t met one other person who has seen it though.
