@Private:
Bombers taking off from Guam and Wake Island (each with an AB) can also land in the above territories.
Nit pick. You are thinking of Midway, not Wake Island.
Thanks for correcting that error simon33 :-)
These are not necessarily my common builds but some are
G1: 2 SB’s 1 Tank
R1: 3 SB’s, save $1
J1: 2 MIC’s, save $2
US1: 5 fighters, save $2
C1: 4 inf
UKE1: 2 SB’s, save $4
UKP1: Air Base, save $2
I1: 1 tank, 1 mech
ANZ1: 1 fighter
F1: LOL
@dazedwit What’s the thought process behind all the bombers for Russia and UKE? Seems it would leave you struggling on defense particularly for London. I do like the US build though, I’ve been getting into heavier air buys for the US early on to bolster defenses across the map
I’m daring Germany to attempt Sea Lion.
Russia is my turn 1 buy every game now after discovering it almost by accident one game. Russia should buy one bomber every turn after. Their vast movement makes their offense terrifying for Axis. I was able to wipe out the massive German stack on R5 with 5 SB’s and everything else (should have been 6 SB but lost one bombing Romanian factory).
Germany should smell the rat and avoid Sea Lion. If so one tactic to deploy is UK and Russia each hitting the two major IC’s every turn
US really depends on that game. A stack of fighters can cause havoc in different ways on both sides.
@dazedwit that’s interesting, I’d be curious to see how it plays out. I do like having a bomber or two as Russia to bomb factories, but I tend to go fighter heavy there as well.
Just give it a try. You will be shocked how much opens up for Russia
@dazedwit I also just noticed I did not mention the UKP airbase, what is the purpose of that? I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before, assuming it goes on Malay?
Ceylon. But Malaya and Borneo could be fun too.
Now getting six fighters to India before Japan is the issue
Already a AB in India. How does that benefit UKP ?
ahh … yes. I also agree that dudes on India be better. I don’t think UK has enough Air to staff them both ? Maybe by rd 2 if ANZAC can get there but then, don’t really need it rd 1 then
I think JPN would defeat it piecemeal. Idk though. I’ve never tried it.
@barnee yeah I’ll have to test it out some time. I think the only way to staff it would be if ANZAC helped like you said, UKP can’t afford it and UKE would be drastically weakened sending the RAF East
Yes Anzac needs to help. Calcutta is going to fall regardless so either abandon it for Persia or set up a six plane scramble and make Japan lose lots of expensive equipment. If you are just building infantry Japan won’t even lose a plane.
A fun strategy is to drop AB on Borneo and get two inf and at least 3 fighters on it turn one. It creates a large expensive distraction if Japan wants the money islands
@dazedwit
You are 100% trolling. Nobody who buys 3 Rus bmb r1 is winning even rarely against competent play.
I buy 1 Russian bomber every single turn after too
@dazedwit So, you buy to turn 5, then surrender?
@Galendae I wipe out the Germans
@dazedwit - to illustrate the feasibility, perhaps you could outline an example troop disposition from Poland to Russia over 5 or 6 rounds. For example, Turn 1 [Poland - Ger - #inf/#art, etc]…all the way to [Russia - Soviet - #inf/#bomb, etc]
This would illustrate the German attack, Soviet buildup, and eventual final battle that breaks the German assault.
I think what folks are struggling with is the lack of Soviet infantry on the field and how 8 bombers (6 avg hits on offense, less any AAA casualties) is making up for ~30 infantry. Are the T1 Soviet infantry all consolidated back into one mass, allowing for rapid German expansion and Soviet income loss? It seems an apt German player would carry an extra AAA or two with their leading column to mitigate the air threat, or simply surround Russia with deadzones and go for a mobility kill while the main column deploys to the Middle East or elsewhere as the rest of the game takes shape.
Appreciate the discussion.
If G1 Barbarossa, buy 1 SB, rest on inf every turn beginning R2. Keep moving Far East troops towards Moscow.
I discovered this strategy by accident.
Germany bought a major factory in Romania and attacked across the front G1. I was so offended I bought 3 SB’s to bomb that factory.
G2: 10 tanks in Romania
G3: 6 tanks in Romania pay off $20 in damage
G4: start building tanks in Berlin to avoid paying $20 to repair factory
Traded border areas a couple times and then full on retreat to Moscow began leaving single inf to slow Germany down
On G5 Germany has massive stack of tanks and mechs and some infantry with a lot of bombers a couple spaces back with smaller army from Bryansk.
Moscow had maybe 30 inf and planes etc. Russia also had units outside of Moscow that could all reach Bryansk at once
R5: attack the German stack with everything
All those German fighters couldn’t enter newly conquered territories.
It was a tight battle but Russia won and won the game.
If I was going to lose planes I would retreat to Moscow and send my 6 SB’s to the Siberian troops which should be one space away and you should be able to retake Moscow
Adding SB’s to Russian counter attacks means Russia is taking them with 3+ infantry.
Tanks can get immediately killed after taking territory, planes don’t have that worry.
