This rule is part of the Axis & Allies Global 1940 2E, House Rules Expansion.
The Escort unit is a sea unit, that has multiple tasks. The primary task is to protect Transports as part of a Convoy.
The CVs and BBs alternate hits. So unless you need them for a big battle the CVs don’t go in on the attack. and if they do, you still get full movement for your Air. On defense only the 1 move for Air.
Anyway having a couple empty CVs in a big Fleet just to soak hits isn’t a bad idea. 2 HPs so same as a Escort or Sub cost wise.
@barnee Actually I just remembered that the new Naval Commander rule does boost battleships. So that will make it worthwhile to have one or two with the Commander rules. The alternate hits is in my opinion one of the reasons to not buy battleships and instead buy empty carriers which just seems kind of stupid. I think it’s realistic that in a navy battle, the dive bombers and submarines would focus on the carriers but naval mines not so much.
We suggest that players should be familiar with the G40 HRE Tournament Rules.
In 2026 we expect to launch a G40 HRE Tournament on TripleA.
We are working on the details now - and we should be able to bring more information soon.

I disagree. BBs are badass 4 hitters. They Bombard too. I still rarely buy them but they’re nice to have imo :) The hit soak is only 3 bucks to repair.
My Naval buys are usually CVs and support Ships, Subs, Trprts.
It seems I’ve asked this before but can a existing original Fctry go underground and be updated to Hvy Industry the same turn ?
I thought they could but now I’m not sure. New player was asking.
Thanks
Yes - this can occur in the same turn in the Purchase & Repair Units phase.
Remember:
Only the original owner of the Industrial Complex can upgrade to Heavy Industry Production.
Right On
I thought that was the case but couldn’t remember :)
Hi Sgt Pitbull - this is awesome
Question about the Kamikaze rules:
In TripleA we get a little red kamikaze plane each turn and I get that but it seems to have no real effect unless we can use it to target a specific ship.
What am I missing? How should we use this thing?
Thanks
Yea this thread different than the triplea one. Triplea is here
https://www.axisandallies.org/forums/topic/36998/global-1940-and-1943-expansion-for-use-with-triplea
I replied to you at the other site.
But yea, unless there’s a damaged Capital Ship to attack, it doesn’t seem worth it to me.
@barnee I also suggest that kamikaze planes get to ignore scrambles. So if I catch a sole transport, my kamikaze should be able to target it without a “dog fight” hahaha.
The Atomic Bomb Expansion is now added to the Axis & Allies Global 1940 House Rules Expansion.
Note:
The Atomic Bomb Expansion is designed for a longer game - and should be used in conjunction with the Total Victory Expansion.
We advice players to study and get familiar with the Atomic Bomb rules before we release the Total Victory Expansion.
We expect to release the Total Victory Expansion no later than 21st April 2026.
Hi Captain
Am adding the SP AA unit. I see it is available at Game start but the SPA not until Early 42. Was curious the reasoning on that.
Thanks
During the early stages of World War II most Panzer formations had their own self-propelled FLAK detachment.
At the same time towed artillery was the most common artillery support.
Later in the War - as most battles required higher maneuverability - the need for self-propelled artillery increased.
These factors are represented in the G40 HRE.
Italy has 6 NMs in 98 defending against 81. Germany has taken over Italy.
An LCV moves from Syria to Alexandria. Do the NMs roll a 1 at it ?
Thanks
Naval Mines are ignored by LCV.
@barnee WHERE is this Flak Tower Thread?
Go to pg. 1 at this thread - scroll down to the bottom at the first post until you get to Optional Rules.
FLAK TOWER is the 5th. Optional Rule.
We have also attached the rules here:
5. G40 Flak Tower.pdf
@The-Captain thank
You. That’s perfect.
I got a little confused by the in-game Game Notes pointing to a discussion group instead of that pdf file.
Those flak towers are fierce!!!
