Nope, you got it correct. Usually the Allies push really fast right behind Japan with the pacific fleet and the Axis only have a turn or two to consolidate. I feel like you’ve given me a lot more time to get my bearings than I expected. The bomber buy turn also set you back a turn in the Atlantic. That build typically only works on people who are unfamiliar with executing a Sea Lion.

I’ll just concede here. Though I still think even if I’d followed Japan more tightly, you’d have been able to get and hold egypt and get all the VCs you’d need for a win anyways. You had enough floating air that I wouldn’t be able to get enough force on any one spot to take it, and you had enough german forces that I couldn’t cover Volg and Russia.
I remain surprrised, because it seems like this kind of scenario should happen more often.

You might be right. Looking back I can see that I was in a much stronger position than it felt like I was at the time. Was also unaware how powerful of a position Samara is in this situation. Though, if you had gotten all of your air into Egypt I wouldn’t have been able to take it with Japan or Italy and would’ve needed the Germans to come down and that probably would have bought enough time for US to ride to the rescue.
Good game! You were really whooping my butt through round 5. I’ve identified a few holes in my Japan strategy to shore up that would have made it smoother, but feel I played Germany pretty close to ideal (for this gambit) and it still wasn’t enough by itself… Do you have any tips on things that could’ve been better (either board)?

Nothing comes to mind, I’ll look over the save some. Mostly I just have the thing sI’ve already said that are for my own play mistakes.
Turn by turn, I’m not seeing anything obvious to change;
in general this uk plan is designed to prevent germany from taking moscow by round 6, and there’s no strong way around that, but it does cost india sooner or later. and it’s pretty common from the triplea lobby, or at least it used to be.
