We have started play testing the Self Propelled Anti Aircraft Artillery unit.
Self Propelled Anti Aircraft Artillery units are limited in numbers and can be produced only by specific Nations.

Interested in how you are positioning these too. Are you thinking that they could go into the attack so that the attacker may also have AA against defending aircraft in addition to being able to move more further/ faster? Are you thinking of giving them a land combat capability? I’ve been acquiring models for each of the major nations. My challenge is that they were used in such small numbers since they tended to be distributed into battery sized units (4-6 vehicles) and assigned to various battalions or brigades, so how much land combat value to give them. Look forward to your play test results- hope you share as you play each time.

Hi Chris,
The Self-propelled Anti-Aircraft Artillery unit (SPAA) is operating under rules for Anti-Aircraft Artillery, with a few exceptions.
The primary differences are:
- Movement: 2
- Limited production numbers
- Germany, Soviet Union and United States can produce Self-propelled Anti-Aircraft Artillery units
Since their production numbers are limited, the cost is 5 IPC which is the same as regular AAA.
At this point the play test results indicate, that Germany produces the SPAA to support their frontline units on the Eastern Front.
For the most part the Soviet Union does not produce the SPAA as long as their regular AAA have not been lost in combat.
This is also true for the United States.
We expect to release these rules in Early 2026.

Have you decided on the number per Player ? or what are you testing at ?
Also, what year do they enter the war ?
I would like to go ahead and start working on these for the next triplea update.
So far, only one game with the SPA’s. The Soviets and yanks have both bought them but the reich surprisingly very few.
They pair well with Grd Inf, although Total Tank buys are still superior. I like them.
My game with Trout is coming to a close but I have a backlog of reports to do, so it’ll be a bit before it’s up.

We are playing 2 more games this weekend - and further 2 games before New Year.
The outcome of these games will decide the final Self-propelled Anti-Aircraft Artillery rules - as well as the rules concerning Self-propelled Artillery unit.

I will wait for the final test results before putting them in the update.
