I believe it is resolved as ABH did official resign in the Results section.
Tough situation, but agree with what AD mentioned, that in this case explicit casualty selection is required. When it’s “obvious”, OOL like “max defense” make sense, but this was far from the case here.
Applaud both players in reacting in good sportsmanship in the aftermath.

i think it’s a matter of interpretation of literal vs intent/spirit of the request… even “max defense” can backfire horribly if interpreted too literally (eg taking out the last dd instead of say a cruiser or fig when attacker has a lot of subs remaining, basically similar to what happened here), there is inherently an entrusting to the one running the battle that they will try their best to make the right interpretation, and usually we do it this way due to efficiency/expediency. however, given this is a playoff game, the correct approach would’ve been to insist on explicit casualty picks so as to eliminate the possibility of mis-interpretation.
-
That’s kind of you ABH my faith is restored and appreciate the sportsmanship. I offered my resignation first but it not if you insist on this moving forward. Let me know if you want to progress I’ll offer the resignation in chat if so.
Appreciate the sportsmanship.

I am not sure enough about how this ends up.
I will not record a result until I hear again from each of you whether you are resigning or accepting a resignation. Since you’ve had some days to maybe think about it, I wonder what the thoughts are now.
I’m not in a hurry to start the next game, I’m having trouble keeping up with the 3 I have, so take your time.
I think @Arthur-Bomber-Harris said he isn’t too interested in continuing in the playoff anyway, time constraints. That’s fine, and I can understand the resignation, but I don’t want to chalk up a loss to someone who technically won? the game.
I won’t go on and on, I’m an outsider to the game, but I want to float the idea of a “draw”, where @GeneralDisarray advances because ABH willingly forfeits the opportunity to advance in the playoffs, and maybe this game result isn’t recorded in the permanent standings.
Again, I just don’t like the idea of recording a win for General D and a loss for ABH unless for example you were both to say ABH was losing the game anyway.
It would be nice to have some kind of agreement. To me the dream scenario is you reset the battle to the point after ABH saves all subs, but the game is yours (plural)
In case it helps you understand where I’m coming from, I WOULD be happy to conclude this and record ABH loss and General D win, IF General D, um, accepts that
-
@gamerman01 Was just 1 turn from getting the victory cities needed in the Pacific. I leave it up to you on how you want to record it doesn’t feel like a win, wish it would have turned out differently.
-
Thank you, now I’ll take a look at the Pacific situation and see if I see what you are talking about - an imminent VC win
-
Now that I’ve looked at the Pacific situation, I think you can honorably accept the resignation because it looks to me like you’re on your way to victory. The entire Western front is sewn up, the Americans are exhausted, ANZAC has few ground forces, and although ANZAC has carriers and planes and the USA has 18 very controversial subs, you have unlimited Germans to transport to Australia
Do you accept the resignation, or do you want time to ask ABH to consider continuing, with a compromise or even not?
I don’t want to start the next round too soon anyway, I’m in two playoffs plus a slugfest. -
Tagging you this time,
@GeneralDisarray I am going to record your win now, assuming you accept it. It seems @Arthur-Bomber-Harris chose to resign at the same time he does not want to continue playing in this playoff. Will you accept the resignation, advance, and play me in the next round? Or do I take a bye.
-
@gamerman01 I’ll accept the resignation know he had some time constraints coming up. Let me know when you like to get the next game started no hurry as well.
-
Well, then, I can definitely put you down on the bracket then!
MUCH appreciated, I have 3 games going and I wish it were 2. Two are tournaments/playoffs and I think I very well may win them both so my # of games will not go down any time soon and none of my games are casual :p
At the same time, we’re in October and only starting the 2nd game, here, so I’ll try not to be too long. Not that there’s a deadline. And maybe I’m wrong, but @farmboy has the patience of a saint and probably doesn’t care if he’s wrapping up the championship game deep into 2026
-
@gamerman01 there is no rush on my end. I need more time in any case to lose my current game to axis dominion
-
That’s a relief.
I keep playing and playing and not taking new games and yet they don’t go away.
Note to self, don’t enter another tournament when already in 2 of them! 🤦🏻♂️
