High School Axis & Allies 1941 Club

As someone in a different high school club in another state, some thoughts (keep in mind the rules are different between states):

    1. My school has specific process for getting clubs approved. Make sure to understand your school’s process (if there is one) before you start going any further.
    2. Where I live, there are some male teachers who remember Axis and Allies from the 1980s. My impression from that and this forum is that most adults remember Axis and Allies as a 1980s thing and will be unaware that new versions exist. Still, they’re good candidates to be an advisor (if that’s required).
    3. You can ask your friends if they want to join. Where I live you need a certain number of people to agree to join a club before it gets approved by the school. Your friends are probably the best way to get those initial commitments unless you’re advertising the proposal.
    4. 1941 is probably the best game to use. TripleA would be useful if the club gets quite big, given that it’s challenging to get many game boards and pieces.
    5. Don’t everything I say too seriously since I’ve never started a club myself (I’m only a member of one) and have little experience in this matter. If you want I can ask my friends who are club leaders for advice on being the head of a club, but that’s a late-stage thing to do, after the club’s already been approved.

  • @SuperbattleshipYamato Do You mean A&A rules or club, rules I know club rules will change among areas.

  • @barnee Thanks for letting me know!, I was thinking of ethier using my 1941 game or TripleA, I’m not sure if there are any teachers at the high school who know about the game or would be interested. I would have to wait till next year to ask around. I doubt more than 5 people would come based on my classmates’ interests. I will more than likely try to construct a gmail and send it to the school to see if they are interested.

  • @barnee Hmm, I do think a hand’s on game would better qualify for a club and bring more interest. Do you suppose 1942 or 1941 would be better. My 1941 is really beat up but it still works. 1941 would more than likely be the best choice I assume for terms of having to by another one for the club if it get larger. Is there a place where I could just buy another board that’s all I really need. I have tons of supplies just not another 1941 board.

Ahh … I misunderstood you. I thought it would be a project the entire class would take part in.

Yea I don’t really have any suggestions. I guess you could put an ad in the school paper if they still have those. Put a few fliers up. Maybe History/Geography teacher will let you post in their room and give you a quick plug.

Most kids/people play video games these days though. And you coming in as a Freshman, expect to catch some flak from older bullies :)
Just ignore them and if it comes to self defense, cheapshot to the groin and then give it your all. They’ll respect you after that :)

You should find a couple kids willing to try it. Maybe the teachers could offer extra credit for a Game Report :)

    Good Luck

    Edit
I’d go with 42 personally. You can try asking under the “marketplace” thread here I think it’s called for another map.

    Hello!

I’ve been doing some research, If done properly and if a teacher is willing to participate in it then it could happen. Depending on how many kids stay not just sign up, will tell me if I need an extra board or two or not. I saw some on ebay for like 10$ but that place seems sketchy to me… They do have morning announcements. I contacted one of the main staff members at my current school and asked them some key questions. And I’m also not concerned at all about the other thing you mentioned. That will not become a problem, I’m sure. I know a few random kids who have heard of the 1942 online for steam and plenty love WW2 history. Anyways I will not be able to due much till my school counselor writes me back. Hope I spelled that right.
    Adios!

I meant rules for school clubs. I updated the original post.

  • @SuperbattleshipYamato Ah I see, yes I’m aware of that. If you have any tips or know anyone who may be able to help let me know.
