On this line, the old guy could be named:
Axis & Allies 2nd Edition (Classic)
or, to cover all:
Axis & Allies 1st/2nd/3rd Editions (Classic)
Since you don’t see “Classic” anywhere in the box or the manual or anything for real, it fits better between parenthesis (people that don’t know stuff might think it’s not the one, since the one they have is not called “Classic” anywhere, of course).

@SuperbattleshipYamato If we give them a transport to start maybe they can hold onto French North Africa with 4 guys, 1 cannon, and 2 fighters. Plus the ships can attack areas later in the game. France can’t really do anything in any A&A game except in Charles 1939. I guess I’m not understanding your point or are you just making a statement.

My point is that having France go first but not letting them attack Italy is pointless because they won’t be able to do anything otherwise except maybe buy 3 submarines or 6 infantry (not insignificant extra units).
-

@SuperbattleshipYamato I personally don’t think they should go first as well.
-

@SuperbattleshipYamato It’s a fun change but not something I would make standard.

@FranceNeedsMorePower yes that is something that i would very much like, a french transport. Around West Africa for exemple.

If you haven’t tried France goes first, you might want to give it a whirl. What can France do besides attack N Italy. - retreat to S France, delaying the invasion of Moscow by one turn guaranteed.
- Build an aircraft carrier and land two planes on it, saving the 110 fleet or making it more costly for the German air force.
- turtle in Paris, purchasing 6, adding 4 from Norm, SF and a fig from London. How many more German air are needed to make that completely safe. Thereby, saving some more British navy.
 Why should France go first?
1a. After Germany went into Poland, the ball was in France’s court. They actually invaded Germany and then turned around and apologized. In this scenario, they don’t apologize.
1b. There is a 50 to 60 ipc imbalance at the upper levels. So bid or this or another house rule. The disadvantage to a bid is that poor purchase/placement can only highlight one’s lack of experience, skill, etc. This is a standardized, simple fix.
 2. This is part of my handicapping system. Playing against a person who is not as good as you and still want a challenge–crockett’s time machine. You could even move back another notch and let Anzac start. Or even further.

 @crockett36 @FranceNeedsMorePower @SuperbattleshipYamato @TheDesertFox here are my 2 cents on ANZAC.

@Cornwallis Nice video I really enjoyed it, I do agree the best strategy for Anzac is a sub navy.

I agree with the main points you made in the Pacific.
