@Ragnell804 gg, I concede
Global 1942 (Larry Harris version): SuperbattleshipYamato (Allies) vs FranceNeedsMorePower (Axis)
-
@SuperbattleshipYamato Oh I wasn’t aware we were using battle calculators. I guess bad communication on my part. I will have to use them going forward now.
Well that did not go well.
I’m changing my turn up a bit if you don’t mind. That or I will surrender.
I was going to try to sneak and take Leningrad but that won’t win me the game.
I see no possible way to win and with that fact I surrender.
GG.
Next time I will be making sure I use the battle calculator.
-
We weren’t?
I’ve always used them.
I was always under the impression that if we were using TripleA battle calculators were used by default.
You can redo your turn. If you still want to surrender, you can do that.
I’ll be getting busy soon so I’m not sure whether we’ll be able to play another game.
-
Add on:
I’ve used battle calculators for almost every battle in this game.
If we were to play another game (big “if”), it would probably be Larry Harris 1942.
-
Third add on (sorry):
I’ve used battle calculators for almost every battle in all the games we’ve played.
Note that I created my Hawaii defense for round 3 based on the fact that if you weren’t using carriers as hit soakers, the Japanese would’ve had a low chance of winning according to the battle calculator. There was no way I could’ve planned so precisely without it.
I’m writing this just to show how imbalanced my lack of communications caused the game to be.
-
“clarification on battle calculators”, not “communications”.
-
@SuperbattleshipYamato Shocked you did not create a no page lol :) Well it’s not all you I should have asked. I’m just used to playing without battle calculators. I feel it takes away from your real skills and babies you. Don’t take offensive to that please was not trying to be rude or anything. Next time we play an A&A game let’s make sure we know if we are using them or not. In the future I would like to do G42 again without battle calculators. Yelp I hope I proved a challenge with not using the Battle Calculators on my end. I will say I will surrender I still don’t see any logical moves for a victory unless if you do. If you do don’t tell me what they are just say I have a chance and I will give it a shot.
Adios!

@SuperbattleshipYamato meant to say new page not no page
-
@SuperbattleshipYamato I meant to welp or whatever not yelp like the word you use the means a screaming sound you know. Nevermind this is probably going to confuse you.
GG!
:)

Good game. You still made things quite challenging for me. I do believe that if it wasn’t for good dice on my end, the game would’ve still been 50-50.
Here’s my favorite video in defense of battle calculators:

To be honest, I mainly use battle calculators when plyaing online, since it’s much more convenient.
-
I’ll have AI finish the game then.
The final dice result, then, is:
Net Allies dice swing: +5.79 swing
Net Axis dice swing: -5.79 swingThis doesn’t include Germany’s final turn.
Also note that not included are 2 convoy rolls against Germany which did better than average dice, or a strategic bombin raid that kind of ended in a wash.

Here’s my dice tracker:
Larry Harris 1942 dice tracker.pdf
It was originally a Word document but was converted so I could share it on the forum.
This dice tracking system was first thought of by @The_Good_Captain .
Basically, what you do depends on the battle.
If the attacker has a strong chance of winning (80% and higher), you simply battle calculate the results and find the average number of attacking units left when the attacker won. If the attacker won with more units left than the average, the difference is registered as positive dice swing for the attacker (and a negative for the defender). If the attack won with fewer units left than the average, then the difference is registered as a negative dice swing. I would assume vice versa applies to battles where a defender has a strong chance of winning.
When you lose a battle or an upset occurs, the difference from both the average attacker units left and the average defender units left are used.
The Good Captain explained all of this in more detail in these videos:

Keep in mind these are just prototype/test videos. A much cleaner version will come out soon.
Let me know if you’d like more information!

AI completed the game:

Unsurprisingly, the Allies won. The Soviets did really well.
-
@SuperbattleshipYamato well done. wow.
-
@SuperbattleshipYamato There is no way you did not start a new page lol :) maybe it will be this post lol. Thanks for all the information I will have to check those out with my free time. Well at least you know Larry’s setup is pretty balanced after all.
:)
Adios!

There’s a new page every 25 posts. This one is the 70th.
-
@SuperbattleshipYamato Ah so 5 away.
-
Looks like I miscounted.
-
-
@SuperbattleshipYamato You should really prioritize on unboxing North Africa. Stalingrad in my opinion and in many other’s it’s the most dynamic A&A game ever.
-
@SuperbattleshipYamato NA is fun to with it’s new mechanics.
