League G40 Team Game - Stucifer/Crockett36 v Daaras/FranceNeedsMorePower

It’s a custom setup as well, with a bunch of extra units already given out to the Allies. Maybe we need to look at the setup and chat about it before deciding. @gamerman01 designed it with the idea that it would be a standard setup for the tournament potentially without a needed bid
-
-
@Stucifer that’s right
The starting setup I put out there is not optional. But if sides aren’t easily agreed on, bid from that starting point, or negotiate, whatevercrockett just forgot that for a mo, or didn’t understand.
-
@Stucifer I have heard of that one just don’t see the purpose of it. I feel the money could be spend else where and do better.
-
FYI, competitive bids for OOB are in the 40-60 ipc range for the Allies. This is for optimized placement of Allied bid units.
Gamermans setup is equivalent to a 77 bid, but with non-optimal placement of units. FWIW, I think it looks pretty good, and we are on the bracket are playing it straight up, no additional bid.
-
Meant to say we on the other side of the bracket….
-
I understood the setup is not optional. None have us have seen this setup before so I was offering you all money to play the Axis. That would adjust the setup even further to the benefit of the Axis. But it sounds like we should just flip a coin.
-
@Booper Man that seems to high. I know that’s probably right but that’s high.
-
Oh I understood it as you were asking as a declining bid, starting at 50 for us as Axis
So the counter would be “Sure you can have 50 to play Axis” or “We’ll play Axis for only 30!”
To which we might say then, “You can play Axis for 30”, or, “Well, we’ll play Axis for 20 I guess…”
and so on

Agreed. Me & Daaras are ambivalent and you & France are Allied-favorite. I don’t feel a bid is necessary.
We can do this in true A&A League fashion and have MARTI roll a single die for us! Sending the email to me & Daaras since i have his email handy
Odd - Stu & Crockett take Axis
Even - Stu & Crockett take AlliesI got a 1, which means Odd, which means me & Crockett take Axis (sorry sir!)

It’s actually not that high. 45 to 60 is the current bid amongst the top players. Thank you AndrewAAgamer. But in their protocols the bid is spent wherever they would like to. This is standardized and meant to balance the game. It is not worried about changing the course of the first turn, but delaying the Axis and adding historical elements. Which we all signed up for.
-
@crockett36 So let’s say I had an extra 60 IPC’s i could just put 20 Infantry into a single zone?
-
@crockett36 Personally I feel Global is balanced. I know that is widely not agreed upon but some say it favors the Allies and some say the Axis so I have chosen the middle. So do we a roll a dice now?
-
@crockett36 I get it we are doing a decline bid. In that case let’s not do the dice.
Can I bid without my partner or do I have to wait till we are online at the same time.
-
@FranceNeedsMorePower The rules for bidding are you buy units and can place 1 per territory in territories you already have units in. Not just control. Same with SZ’s.
Global is hilariously unbalanced, but it really comes down to the skill of the axis player imo. A great axis player in G40 will almost never lose without a bid.
Are we doing a bid, or is this modified setup the “bid” ?
-
@Daaras I’m not quite sure I have heard both on this forum.
-
@FranceNeedsMorePower @Stucifer @crockett36 Are we trying this with no bid then?
-
@Daaras Yeah I think we go with no bid and flip a coin. In this case I had MARTI roll a die and it came up with me & @crockett36 as Axis.
-
Are you guys seeing stucifer’s posts? He rolled a one. Can you see that? We lost; you all are the Allies. I will be cheering for you to win.
