No… Germans left the Italians to suffer
League G40 Team Game - Stucifer/Crockett36 v Daaras/FranceNeedsMorePower

@mikawagunichi Sounds good. What does DM mean? Are you doing the G42 tournaments? If so, which strategies have you used in the past if you have done G42 in the past before. I’m thinking about using a variant of the Middle Earth Strategy that works for G42. I’m just worried it won’t work for a 5-7 round game.
-
@FranceNeedsMorePower Have not played Stalingrad yet, we may get a chance in September though! It looks awesome.
DM is Direct Message
Me, mikawagunichi, and Daaras are doing G42 as a team. The shorter format makes Middle Earth a little less desirable, but it is still a strong strategy. In my limited experience you need a mIC in Persia to even have a chance at holding India unless Japan is asleep
-
@Stucifer Thanks for letting me know! Yeah My Dad and I may go against you guys! That would be cool!
You may not want to answer this but if you fine with it please do. What strategies have you used in the past for G42 that worked? Again not which one are you going to use which ones were decent just so I can customize and combien ideas to form my own strategy for the event.
-
@mikawagunichi I assume there would e a roster for the event then we could see if we are parried up via contacting on here or something.
-
@FranceNeedsMorePower We haven’t played any tournament games, just done some games against each other.
If Axis gets a bid of 7 or more, you can use it on a transport and take Celebes and complete that objective on J1, which is huge for your momentum. Japan seems like the strongest Axis power in our playing of 42. However I did find a decent investment into Navy with Germany paid some good dividends for securing the Leningrad NO and at least stalling Russia. Italy is always tough.
For Allies, focusing on the Pacific fleet with the US but getting at least a couple transports into play in the Atlantic/Med is good. However the turn order puts Germany between US & UK, so the normal “OOB” Global strategies for having US capture and using UK planes to secure has to be reversed, and with our group at least the US had to spend 80%+ in the Pacific.
-
@Stucifer Thanks for letting me know. Hmm I was thinking about a big transport shuck into Western Germany or France but seems like that won’t quite work. Well know the british take then the Americans land planes that’s how it works now.

@Stucifer said in League G40 Team Game - Stucifer/Crockett36 v Daaras/FranceNeedsMorePower:
I know my teammate @crockett36 prefers to play Allies, so if you are willing to give us Allies and yourselves play Axis, let’s go with that.
You’d better let crockett36 play with the Allies or he will deliberately sabotage his evil Axis power. 🔥 💥
-
@gamerman01 I tend to roll play the madman as the Axis.
-
@gamerman01 Huh, I’m confused.
-
@crockett36 So you are good as the Axis? If so then lets do what I said before if not let’s roll a die.
-
@FranceNeedsMorePower one of the strategies suggested is the Norway Knockout which is a big, naked transport landing in Norway by the US on turn 3, with the buy being 6 strat bombers; they can fly to Norway on US4 and start pummeling German ICs US5.
However that takes first round transport buy, second round move to Iceland with UK providing fleet defense, and then ideally UK landing UK 2 and US reinforcing with any air units its brought over and the 5 transports. Suddenly you have ~12 ground units and some air there to hold it and Germany usually can’t take it back.
Then UK sends more defenders as needed and US starts bombing away.

@Stucifer @FranceNeedsMorePower I am not partial to any side, I havent played much box is a while lol.
I’ve been on the forums a few years as well, and happily got to the finals in PTV last year but then got absolutely smoked in them. I may have put up less of as resistance than poland.
I am an engineer by day.
I also don’t play much live as the time commitment is just too much. I’m married with 1 kid so far, but my brothers and I do try to get some games of the quicker versions in from time to time. The weekends Stu comes to visit are lovely.

I’m a UPS guy of 32 years. 7 kids, same wife. last one a senior this year. Hoping to retire from this job next year and finish my master of divinity. Live in NH.
I was responding to Ted’s comment that I would secretly be hoping the Axis lose IF I was playing the Axis. I play this game, 25 percent because of personal history, 50 percent because of my love of history and 25 percent for the love of competition/strategy.
Looks like we need to flip a coin or start a bid. Let’s start the bid at 50 if we can’t decide. 50 for the Axis. As in “I will play the Axis if you give me 50. Counter offer?”
-
@crockett36 I’m not trying to sound dumb or anything, but I honestly have no idea what a fair bid is. We could decide on a fair bid and them flip a coin? I haven’t really played box in years lol
-
It’s a custom setup as well, with a bunch of extra units already given out to the Allies. Maybe we need to look at the setup and chat about it before deciding. @gamerman01 designed it with the idea that it would be a standard setup for the tournament potentially without a needed bid
-
-
@Stucifer that’s right
The starting setup I put out there is not optional. But if sides aren’t easily agreed on, bid from that starting point, or negotiate, whatevercrockett just forgot that for a mo, or didn’t understand.
-
@Stucifer I have heard of that one just don’t see the purpose of it. I feel the money could be spend else where and do better.
-
FYI, competitive bids for OOB are in the 40-60 ipc range for the Allies. This is for optimized placement of Allied bid units.
Gamermans setup is equivalent to a 77 bid, but with non-optimal placement of units. FWIW, I think it looks pretty good, and we are on the bracket are playing it straight up, no additional bid.
-
Meant to say we on the other side of the bracket….
