@Stucifer @Daaras Also I have not done play by forum yet I have just done saved files so Daaras will have to help me with that.

@gamerman01 @FranceNeedsMorePower You can be on my team :)
-
@Daaras Thanks! Now from my understanding we are playing G40 with adjustments? Also I have not done play by forum only saved games back and forth so If you could help me with that. Who is who, countries I mean or has that not been decided. Could you give me a run down on what has been happening with this post so I’m caught up with anything I missed. If possible I am quite better at the Allies but if that has been chosen I we can be on the Axis side.
-
@gamerman01 @Daaras I’m not super well known but people like SuperBattleshipYamato, Barnee, Panther, Cornwallis, TheJanus, and others know me. I know a few other people but have only had few interactions. I have also done notable things on the forum such as creating the first North Africa Variant. I’m also a young A&A player but my age has nothing to do with my experience I’m a decent A&A player. Etc.
That’s a really small run down about me.
I know gammerman01 said I was unknown or something like that so wanted to give you guys a bit about myself. If you have any questions for me let me know!
Adios,
FranceNeedsMorePower

Yep, just unknown in the league, until now! You are exposing yourself to 7 league players already.
@Daaras will kindly show you @FranceNeedsMorePower about Play by Forum
The games will be set up in the league section even though it’s a tournament and will not be scored as league games.
Bracket is here https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Larckt6iOuBZtZ-AVzDPv-HEofZJdeN8ptXXotun0Og/edit?gid=575043951#gid=575043951
This is not a formal tournament. The primary purpose is to have some team games to get away from 1v1 a bit, and for some league players to get to know each other a little better.
The starting setup is not scientific, it is a judgment call and designed to have fun
League players know the play by forum protocol and how to deal with each other. I’m sure this will be a very smooth and well played tournament. The losers may decide to play each other but that is not expected.
As you can see from the bracket, Booper and I are facing off Oysteilo and Mikawagunichi.
This is an exciting match between league playersThe other game is Stucifer/crockett36 vs. Daaras/France
Axis v Allies should be chosen by the 4 players in the game, mainly if 1 or more players really don’t want to take 1 of the sides. Bidding is certainly allowed, but if the 4 players are fairly indifferent, just roll for it.
-
There are no time limits, but same as in normal league play, you should communicate when delays will be more than a couple of days. Obviously there are 3 other players in your game, so be considerate. If your partner is not playing or needs an extended break, see if your opposing 2 players will allow you to play for him, but it is preferred that you find a replacement when appropriate.
It is supposed to be 2 v 2 and not 2 v 1, after all. -
@gamerman01 Ah I know crooket36, I’m actual playing a casual game with him right now. I will read your other posts so give me a moment.
-
@gamerman01 Is there someones else on my team? I thought it was just Daaras and I. Is the game OOB I thought you had some changes. Thanks for catching me up! Should I create a chat with my partner or partners?
-
@Booper said in League Global 1940 2nd edition non-ranked Team Tournament:
Yes, I agree that it appears to favor allies as well. Was going to suggest we solicit feedback from some of the top players, like the finalists of OOB for the last few years.
This could be the beginnings of a very nice “standard” OOB setup that @crockett36 has been advocating for over the years.
THANK YOU! I FEEL HEARD! I always feel like Bruce Willis in the 6th sense. I talk; no one listens.
-
@gamerman01 maybe a starting save file with all the units added in and/or removed according to the special setup. so we can get started. are we doing a coin flip for which team plays Axis?
-
Good idea, there will be 3 games so 1 time setup is the efficiency.
Preferred order for deciding sides
- Just agree on sides
- “coin flip”
- bid starting off the starting setup
-
Here’s a copy of the setup following the post. I’m not sure if the destroyer added to 101 is intended to be UK? Or if it should have been US.

Here’s how AI synthesized my setup ideas, just for fun
🛡 G40 2v2 Variant: Coordinated Resistance
A historical balance tweak for two-player teams in Axis & Allies Global 1940
📜 Purpose
This variant addresses inherent coordination challenges in Allied 2v2 team formats. Since Germany and Japan benefit from more focused strategic alignment, this proposal introduces modest unit boosts for the Allies to reflect historical deployments, improve survivability, and sustain competitive pacing.
🎲 Setup Adjustments
Each change adheres to the “1 unit per territory/zone” guideline.
🌊 Pacific Theater
Nation Territory/Zone Unit Change Historical Rationale China Szechwan +1 AA Simulate Flying China Hunan +1 AA tiger devastation of China Shensi +1 AA Japanese air China Chahar +1 infantry Represents local resistance and rearguard China Anhwe +1 infantry Delays Axis advance toward central China China Hopei +1 infantry Strengthens northern front line UK (Pacific) India +1 infantry Helps sustain Burma Road defense 🌍 Europe Theater
Nation Territory/Zone Unit Change Historical Rationale UK SZ 101 +1 destroyer Bolsters Atlantic convoy defense UK Egypt +1 infantry Reinforces defense against Italy UK SZ 91 +1 destroyer Slows Italian fleet mobility UK SZ 110 +1 destroyer Adds protection vs German naval threat UK SZ 71 (S. Africa) +1 transport Enhances reach into East Africa / India USSR Ukraine +1 infantry Bolsters defense on Dnieper front USSR Russia (Moscow) +1 infantry Strategic depth for capital defense USSR East Poland +1 fighter Reflects pre-Barbarossa Soviet air presence
🧠 Gameplay Rationale
- Historical Anchoring: Each unit placement references plausible pre-June 1940 deployments or logistical positioning.
- Balance Correction: Enhances Allied survivability without nullifying Axis initiative.
- Team Dynamics: Supports distributed Allied coordination across two players, mitigating decision friction.
📝 Submission Notes
This variant was inspired by recurring imbalances in competitive 2v2 matchups and aligns with existing tournament bid frameworks (40–60 IPCs typical). It’s designed to remain compatible with official rules, requiring only setup tweaks rather than structural overhaul.

From my limited look, focusing on Axis opening strategy.
G1 on Russia is an option to eliminate that fighter, but would take a lot of resources away from attacks on the much-strengthened British fleet. Doable if we skip attacking 111 and leave Italy to its inevitable fate by not providing a fighter for the Taranto scramble.
Sealion posture is decent, if we go hard at 110 & 111 and leave 106 unperturbed we have excellent odds to take out both fleets, even with scrambles; however scrambles would chew up our air power and hurt our odds on London quite a bit. We can offset those losses with a 2-fighter+DD buy G1 (save 2); so not capturing Normandy or S. France G1 leaves us with 70 IPCs needed for a 10-transport buy. Risky still as you now do not have a carrier for naval support - if going for SeaLion, probably need to skip 111.
Not having an extra 2 UK subs going into the Med (quite popular) gives some glimmer of hope that Italy won’t be dead in the water round 1, but supporting a North Afrika campaign is probably still an unwise distraction from Germany’s eastern ambitions.
A J1 is still very much on the table, with most of the Allied bonus units going to Europe. China will be a little costlier to take down, or at least riskier with the AAA, particularly Hunan . And has some units where a bid would normally not allow (Chahar, Anhwe, Hopei) which influences opening territory grabs somewhat.
-
Nice analysis! Cool that the fighter in E. Poland makes a G1 attack on Russia more appealing. Don’t see that very often these days.
-
@Booper I think the bid going so heavy to UK and being in the 45+ range, combined with the strength of the J1, makes a G1 very unappealing to most league players. However with a weaker bid placement like this, could see it make a comeback. The German income can spike very quickly with a good G1 opening.
