@nebnworb yea they get the bit in their mouth and they can run all over the place. Little annoying things that if they don’t react and you can support, can really be irritating. Of course they can kinda do the same thing, depending on USA strategy : )

@Cornwallis Can you edit your video and make it not for kids? This allows comments as well as saving to playlist. Thank you. Great job.
-
That’s basically the sea zone 93 move we talked about earlier. I thought you didn’t like that move?
-
@SuperbattleshipYamato i don´t like it bc UK takes huges risks and it will fail 90% of the times but it is possible and will definitly give a Spicy game.
The time i would see use in it is when you activily try to hunt the luftwaffe.
-
@crockett36 good remark. Should be better now?
-
@SuperbattleshipYamato He tweaked it a bit.
-
I know. I recieve notifications when people edit stuff.

@SuperbattleshipYamato No, I mean the strategy. For example he said to bring over the transport with two guys and land them in Southern France. So it makes the Italians have to think more about what to do.
-
@Cornwallis @AndrewAAGamer @barnee @SuperbattleshipYamato @The-Janus Idea:
Say the Allies get a bid. Would it be worthwhile spending it on French units. If so what would be the best buy?
And, what would be the most common number bid for the Allies, then the lowest then the highest?
What would be ideas for French bids?
If they are any good…
-
Ah, I see. I don’t see much of a difference. It is true that bring 2 guys over to Southern France makes the strategy more viable.
However, Italy can still overpower Southern France easily. Even if the Malta fighter survives and lands there, Italy, with 2 infantry, 2 artillery, 1 tank, and 1 strategic bomber from Northern Italy, still has a 95% chance of winning against France’s 1 infantry and 1 artillery and Britain’s 1 infantry, 1 tank, and 1 fighter.
The remaining Italian naval units can still trap the Allies in the bind I explained earlier:

Honestly, my immediate “out of the box” idea would be to get a transport, someplace defensible. Getting those 2 inf off of UK can be helpful, and being able to move units around with your own transports is always faster than walking, or using someone else’s transports.
Beyond that? it really depends on what sort of limitations there are, in terms of where you’re allowed to place stuff.
Could you put a harbor in French West Africa? That space always intrigues me because it borders 3 distinct sea zones; the problem is only 1 of them is within naval range of the US, and it’s the one that’s 4 sea zones from South Africa – so you can never quite complete that chain.
…other than that? I dunno. Would you want a tac. to go with your fighter, if all you’re really doing is defending? A harbor in Syria, to effectively connect Greece to Gibraltar? An airfield in Equatorial Africa (7 spaces from the US…)?
Would an airfield in Morocco or Algeria have any utility? I’m always intrigued by that possibility, since both straddle 2 sea zones.
If part of the Gibastion tactic (as mentioned by @AndrewAAGamer )is to build an airfield in Gibraltar, then having one in Morocco is probably just as effective.I generally wouldn’t find much use for additional units (other than the transport, like I mentioned) but some infrastructure pieces might be useful.
-
I’m a intermediate Global player so I don’t really have much for advice about a French bid. As Janus said, a transport might be useful.
If you’re looking to play Global with more French units, I suggest Oztea’s 1941. It also has some additional ANZAC units.

I recommend using the UHD map UHD World War II Global You have to activate in “Game Options”. At some point I’ll decouple it and make it a stand alone.
-
@SuperbattleshipYamato you land the fighters from malta and gibraltar on the carrier and the tac bomb if he survives in S France.
-
@The-Janus @barnee I really like the idea of the transport and Tac. The airbases and naval bases don’t seem to catchy for me. Where would the transport go?
-
Doesn’t make much of a difference. It’s literally only one combat point (of whatever we call it).
-
@SuperbattleshipYamato yes of course. It was just to make sure you have the right amount of units in the sea zone. Nonetheless this move can only be done if germany doesn´t go for the cruiser in G1, doesn´t send the BB in 110 and sends a fighter to tobruk.
-
@FranceNeedsMorePower said in France's role in Global 1940 SE:
Where would the transport go?
Like I said, someplace defensible – so either out of the way (maybe Madagascar, or French West Africa) or else it would have to be somewhere you’d actually be able to muster enough defense to keep it alive.
(I’m just sort of assuming the conventional rule for bid units is they have to be in/on/adjacent to your own territory, or at least in SZ where you already have ships, if not adjacent to your own territory.)
If you’re planning to send the British fleet to Southern France, maybe you even put it there? What intrigues me is whether there’d be any scenario where you could get the units from either Normandy-Bordeaux or Southern France off of the continent before they’re killed; it’d be tricky to figure out the right positioning where the transport would be left alone.
-
Our best hope, if we want to evacuate Normandy-Bordeaux, would be putting the transport in sea zone 110, pray Germany does something weird and hits sea zones 109, 111, 93, 106, and/or 91 and doesn’t invade Normandy-Bordeaux. Then we can evacuate them on France’s first turn, probably the only time they can evacuate it (unless the German player just leaves the territory alone for a while).
This is pretty obvious though and if I were the German player I’d definitely go after sea zone 110 to prevent this. You never know…
-
@SuperbattleshipYamato I love how you called it weird, lol. I could see the A.I. missing this possibly.

Thank you!
