Lol this combat between a destroyer and a sub lasted for 13 rounds. What is your longest DD vs sub battle ever?
Round Three:
Red attacks upcoming Joe Fleets of 2 White C and a Blue C with a trooper. They are coming up the coast of Greenland, two spaces from NorthPole Base. There is not enough time to put an ice hex, as you need three to block the lower Greenland approach to the base. All ships lost except Blue with its trooper. Builds 2 C off North Pole base.
Blue lands a trooper on the island worth 2 VP off just below North Pole Base, and, two more C from Blue 12 VP base arrive there also. Builds a jet and a C on its Blue Base.
Black sends a C towards North Pole Base, while sending back two C, to hunker down at Black 8 VP Base. Flies Rattler from North Pole Base to Red 8 VP Base. Builds C and Trooper.
White move a C and trooper to 1VP island below its White Base of 12 VP. While moving a C from Apogee Base towards North Pole Base. Builds a C off White and Apogee Bases.
Round 4…
Round Four:
Red attacks the 2 VP base below the North Pole Base, with two C and a Rattler. Using Cobra Commander’s special ability, all that is left is Blue C and a trooper on the 2 VP island base. Builds a Cruiser.
Blue attacks Polar Base with a C and Trooper, defended by Red C and land base trooper. Blue fleet is lost, moves from Blue 12 VP a C and Jet to Blue 2 VP Base. Builds a trooper and 2 C on Blue Base.
Black C joins Red C at NP Base. Two C midpoint to NP Base and Black home base. Also C and a landed Trooper to 1 VP island just below Black 8 VP base. Builds a C, previously had “iced”, the sea left of NP Base.
White land a Trooper to upper left of North Pole Base, and, joined there by three more White C. Another two C joins Blue C and Jet on 2VP island Base just below NP Base. Builds 3 C, two at 2 White Base and another at Apogee Base.
Round 5: Red hunkers down, builds a Rattler for N.P.Base.
Blue sends two C and trooper to 2 VP island base. Also had sent a Jet and C to attack Red & Black C off NP Base. For lost of the Jet, both enemy C destroyed. Builds Jet and C.
Black needs to break siege of NP Base, 2 C attack Blue C just below the base. Each side loses a C. Now a C with trooper occupied a 1 VP island upper left of Black Base. Another C heads for NP Base. Buys 2 C off NP Base.
White leaves NP region and heads for Black Base with 3 C and Trooper, and, joined by 2 more C from White Base. Jet flies to NP region, a C from Apogee Base heads towards NP Base. Builds a C for White and Apogee bases.
Found 6: Red is down to a trooper and Rattler on it’s base. Builds two C just below the North Pole base and to its right. Previously used Cobra Commander’s special ability to destroy White’s fighter parked upper left of the North Pole Base(thus scarifying a Rattler).
Blue sends a C towards Red’s Base to keep pressure on Black to defend it, also Jet from Blue Base flies to 2 VP island one space below NP Base. Both C from VP Island attack 4 defenders C( 3 Black and 1 Red). All ships are lost. Had built 3 C at Blue Base.
Black is in a fix, it has two C and a Rattler to try to defend three bases. Moves it’s trooper and C back from a 1 VP above its Black Base. Denudes forces protecting Red Base to NP Base. Rattler flies in and C goes to just below the NP Base. Had built a C for Black Base.
White has now 3 C( two from 2 VP island and one from Apogee Base) attacking Black C off NP Base, for no lost. Also survives Black Rattler counterattack from NP Base. Another C from Apogee Base coming along eastern Greenland.
Finally 7 White C with a trooper arrive off Black Base, protected by 2 Black C and a land based trooper. Each side loses a C, landed trooper does not attack. The White C do a shore bombardment and take out the defending Black Trooper. In turn a White C is lost( by shore artillery or dare say a anti-ship drone), to be replaced by a follow up C that had departed White Base. Had built a Jet and C.
Game over?, All Cobra has is a Red Trooper and Rattler at NP Base( along with a Red C off the side of NP Base). Maybe a quick trip to Europe, to hid out, via the undefended Red Base. Joes have all their bases and captured Black Base. Still have total two Jets and two Troopers and 4 Blue and 10 White C. Cobra has 2 VP taken, while Joe has 3 VP taken and 8 VP via capture Black Base.
Now…
Will Cobra be coming back, of course if you go by the old TV 1980s show, they are just around the corner. Having a new plot to take over the world.
Considering the value of the Polar North, and, help from their silent partners, the usual gang of idiots( know as the Axis of Evil).
As for the game using Axis and Allies rules, unless I House Rule them. I did not allow those C transports carry another unit of a different allied color.
Also using what I used playing the 1914 game, I let the C do a shore bombardment. There I did not let the the landed trooper attack. Instead the defending Cobra trooper was hit, but, it’s counterattack I chose a attacking C as a lost( not the landed trooper).
Yes the C cost more than the trooper, but, the surviving and only Joe trooper, got to control and occupied the Cobra base.
At the early rounds the Joes defending Cruisers survived attacking Cobra C. Considering C attacking have a higher number, than the defending C.
So in sea warfare Defending C that are facing equal numbers of Attacking C are at a great disadvantage.
As for the speciality cards, for a second edition spurge on 40 mm figured, or, put a pull out stand for the cards.
Next scenario…
Again using one trooper, in order to have the concept of combine arms, along with one C for transport. In this scenario all other units are being combine, in order to have only Aircraft Carriers with Fighters.
For game purposes the Cobra Rattler will be considered as a fighter. Considering it is a type of close support ground attack aircraft.
The setup for Joe is:…
Blue Base 12 VP has a Blue C, trooper, 2 Aircraft Carrier, three Jets, with no units on White/Blue Base on Greenland.
White/Blue Base has just a White Jet and a Trooper. In White 12 VP has C, Aircraft Carrier, and, 1 Jet.
Cobra has Red 8 VP Base a Red C, Trooper, and a Rattler. Dual Red/ Black Base has a Red Aircraft Carrier, and, 2 Rattlers.
On Dual Black/Red 8 VP Base, Black has a Trooper, 2 Rattler, C, and, A.C. Meanwhile on Black Base 8 VP, has Black A.C. , and, 3 Rattlers.
Round One:
Round One: Red takes Island(two spaces below) worth 1 VP, with C and Trooper from Red Base( along with a Rattler that just landed from the Red Base). Had built AC at Red Base.
White hunkers down, had built a Fighter Jet at Blue/White Base.
Black AC with 2 Rattlers, C with trooper has taken and landed on Greenland 1 VP space, just below NP base. Meanwhile from Black base, AC with 2 Rattlers is heading towards White Base. Had built a Rattler at Black Base.
Blue goes on the attack, having Red and Black? Both advancing on Blue Base. Both AC with 3 Jets attack Red C with 2 Rattlers off 2VP island, two spaces from Blue Base. All Red are lost, for the cost of 1 Blue Fighter. Had built Jet at Blue Base.
Round Two: Red attacks. From Red VP 1 Island a Rattler attacks two spaces towards Greenland Blue 2 AC and 2 Fighters. Each side loses a aircraft. Sent C to Blue Base and using special ability lost it , but, caused a hit on Blue C. Had built a Rattler at Red Base.
Blue sends a Fighter from Blue Base to join 2 AC and a Fighter, they all attack Black AC with 2 Rattler and C( that had landed a trooper on Greenland, last turn). All is lost, but, one Black Rattler that lands on 1 VP hex with a Black trooper in it.
Black attacks White Base with AC and 2 Rattlers, defended by White C and AC and a Fighter. All Black is lost, along with a White C. On Greenland trooper moves and takes another 1 VP, From Black Base a Rattler flies to hex above NP base, and, had built a AC at NP Red/Black Base.
White using special ability of two movements, a White Trooper attacks and takes out Black Trooper, thus taking over 1 VP hex, on Greenland. Had built a AC at White/Blue Base and a Fighter at White Base.
Round Three: Red has a trooper two spaces from Blue Base, might as well be on the Moon. Rattler joins Red trooper. Builds a Rattler at Red Base.
Blue with only a Trooper at Blue Base, with Red Forces Two hexes away, is force to hunker down. Builds AC and Fighter at Blue Base.
Black Rattler above NP base land on AC just below the base. Builds C and trooper at NP base.
White Two Fighters takes out Black Rattler for a lost of a Jet( the remaining fighter lands on a AC two spaces from NP base). While trooper moves into 1 VP hex and takes over. Builds C and Fighter at White /Blue Base.
Round 4: Red can only build a AC at Red Base.
Blue is in pretty poor shape, builds a C and Jet, to counter a possible Red invasion.
Black from NP base lands a Trooper taking a 1VP hex. AC with Rattler goes down two hexes, from NP Base, to attack White AC off Greenland. Sinks White AC for no lost. Had built a Rattler to help defend Black Base, from potential attack from White Base.
White C and 2 Jets from Apogee Base attack Black AC and Rattler( that had destroyed earlier White AC). All Black Fleet is lost, for a lost of a Jet. Remaining Jet lands on hex with White Trooper. Meanwhile White trooper attacks lone Black trooper in 1VP hex. Both troopers are lost. Along with AC and 2 Jets from White Base heads for NP Base, and, 2 Jets take off and attack Black C off Greenland. Black C and a White Jet is lost. Remaining Jet joins another White Jet in 1VP Greenland Hex.
White Base and NP base have no units defending it, had built at Apogee Base a AC and a Jet.
Round 5: Red moves AC & Rattler to join trooper and another Rattler on 1VP island two hexes from Blue Base. Had built a C on Red Base and a AC on NP Base. Earlier a Rattler had flown to NP Base from 1VP island.
Blue Base forces of AC, 2 Jets, C, and, Trooper attack two hexes away, on 1 VP island, a Red AC and Rattler and on the ground a trooper. All Red forces are destroyed, for a lost of a Jet, Joe takes the island! Had built 2 Jets.
Black builds a AC on Black base for its 2 Rattlers and trooper for NP Base.
White AC goes 1 hex closer to NP Base. While another AC and Jet leave Apogee Base towards NP Base. Meanwhile 2 Jets leave Greenland and a C attack Red AC and Rattler defending NP Base. All units are lost! Built earlier a Jet for White Base and for Apogee Base(also a trooper for later base).
Round Six: Red has only a C, force to hunker down in Red Base( had built a trooper for NP base and Rattler for Red base).
Blue uses its special ability to deploys a Jet to an hex, wit a AC. From 1 VP island a C with a Trooper, AC now with 2 fighters, sail to Red Base(defended by C and Rattler). For a lost of a Jet, all Red forces destroyed and Red Base captured. Another Blue Jet flies to 1VP Island from Blue Base. Earlier had built a AC and Jet.
Black builds a Rattler for NP Base.
White using special ability on Greenland moves a Trooper to take 1VP hex in NW part of the island. White Jet flies onto AC that arrives off NP Base. Another AC moves from Greenland back to below White Base. Had built a C & Jet at White Base.
Victory for Joe, captured Red Base, with total of 11 VP(Red Base, and, three one point VP hexes-one hex an island-). Black Base is a Force in Being( what ever built there is counter by forces built in White Base).
Except for Red all others had 4 in strategic reserve. The forces Red trooper and Black Trooper at NP base. A Black Rattler at same base, &, at Black Base 2 Rattlers and a AC.
Joe Forces at Northern Greenland a White Trooper, Full AC(with two Jets) below NP Base. White Base has two Jets, C, and one hex below a AC. Blue at Red Base has AC & Jet, C and Trooper. Meanwhile at Blue Base a AC and Jet. Along with a Jet between both bases on a 1 VP island.
Black base countering White forces on White Base, cannot reinforce NP Base. Neither can it reinforce NP base very much, or, try recapture Red Base.
Yes AC with two Jets/ Rattlers is the Queen and most expensive unit on the board, but, you can have these units and they can still never occupy a base/ hex( by themselves).
Next keeping in line with the Concept of Combine Arms, using only a Jet/ Rattler & C, all other units are transformed into foot soldiers(same scenario). Yes initially Bases will be over the limit for 12 units.
Round One: Red already spent funds to place an ice hex that connects NP base to Northern Greenland. Two troopers go onto the ice hex, and, C lands two troopers onto 1 VP hex on Northern Greenland. Meanwhile the 12 troopers at Red Base, are just stuck there. Due to initial size of garrisons at NP base, Red cannot place any new units.
Blue from Apogee base sends two Troopers to hex right next to landed Red troopers. From Blue Base lands from a C, two Troopers on coastal hex, below same Red troopers. Places new 6 Troopers on Apogee Base and 2 onto Blue Base.

Black funded an ice hex to built a bridge to connect Black base to White Base. Six troopers enter the ice hex, that connects NP Base to Northern Greenland. Meanwhile from NP base a C and Rattler goes North to protect the ice bridge going to White Base. Also 7 troopers go onto the ice bridge, where the Rattler has landed. Builds 5 more troopers at NP base.
White using special ability rushes 6 Troopers to Northern Greenland remaining 1 VP hex, blocking Cobra’s southern advance. White C leaves White Base and sinks Black C, that was protecting the ice bridge. Had built 6 Troopers at Apogee Base and 3 at White Base.
Round Two: Off Greenland Red C attacks Blue C and is lost, but, 2 Red troopers attack 2 Blue Troopers and wipe them out. For no lost in the same hex, while Rattler from NP base lands in 1VP hex. Red cannot built due to stacking limits on bases. Earlier had built an ice hex above White 1 VP Base in Northern Greenland.
Blue moves 6 Troopers to hex, where already 2 Blue troopers attacked 2 Red troopers in nearby hex( both lost along with a Red trooper). Blue C goes to Blue Base to pick up 2 Troopers. Had already built 6 Troopers for Apogee Base.
Black builds another ice hex for its bridge to connect Black to White Base. Rattler lands on new ice hex and 7 troopers move into it, From ice hex down south, 6 troopers attack 6 white troopers on their 1 VP hex in Northern Greenland. Lost all Black troopers and 4 White Troopers. Meanwhile 8 Troopers have enter ice hex towards Greenland. Place new 4 troopers on NP base.
White retreats C back to White Base, when another ice hex is built, will attack it with air support. From Apogee Base using special ability attacks Red 1 VP Base on Northern Greenland. Six Troopers attack Red Rattler, one trooper is lost to destroy it, base captured. Had built a Trooper for White Base and 6 Troopers for Apogee Base.
Round Three: Red builds C at Red base & 3 troopers at NP base. Red trooper uses special ability to take out a Blue Trooper next to a Coastal Red trooper in E. Greenland.
Blue C with 2 Troopers land them on 2VP Island below NP Base, along with a Jet. Blue Trooper takes over undefended Red coastal Greenland hex. 3 Troopers join White Troopers in N. Greenland, with 7 Troopers leave Apogee Base to go to N. Greenland. Builds at Apogee Base 6 Troopers.
Black builds ice hex above White Base, moving up are 7 troopers & Rattler, 8 troopers, and, 8 more Black troopers(snaking along the ice bridge). From ice hex, connecting NP Base to Northern Greenland 8 troopers attack White 2 Troopers in 1VP hex in Northern Greenland. Lost 5 troopers to take out 2 White Troopers. Meanwhile 8 troopers entered ice hex from NP base. Builds C $ 4 troopers at NP base.
White uses special ability to move 8 Troopers to attack 3 Black troopers in Northern Greenland. Lost 3 Troopers to take out 3 Black troopers, hex 1VP retaken. All of Greenland is Cobra Free.
White Base sends 10 Troopers and Jet to attack 7 Black troopers and Rattler in hex, above White Base. For lost of 4 White troopers, all of Black is destroyed. Jet flies back to White Base. Earlier C destroyed ice hex, that connected to land, above White Base. Builds 8 Troopers for White Base, and, for Apogee Base 3 Troopers.
