No scramble
L25 PTV Stucifer (X+12) vs peirce (L)
-
I didn’t look at the Pacific at all on Italy’s turn 😅
-
@Stucifer My understanding was that you had to have a land unit in the territory to be able to carrier scramble - that’s what it says in the Rules. As you only had a bomber (which is not a land unit - see China’s garrison rules), I assumed you didn’t get a scramble. Do I have that wrong?
If so, no problem - I’ll change a couple of things for the USA turn in the Pacific, if that works for you (no combat).
-
@peirce Is that in the atripleA game notes? I was using this thread:
https://www.axisandallies.org/forums/post/1400752Am on mobile for now so I cant review TripleA until later tomorrow if clarification is still needed
-
@Stucifer From Carrier scramble: “A carrier may scramble one plane to battles in adjacent sea zones/territories where there is at least one defending surface warship/land unit…”
I understood that to mean land units, since the map draws a distinction between land and air units. If you look at the BM Rules (that this map is based on), it says under China: “At the start of China’s turn, a Chinese infantry is spawned in each non-coastal Chinese territory under Axis control that is not garrisoned by at least one Axis land unit (i.e., infantry, marine, mech infantry, artillery, or armor).”
Again, I’m happy to re-do the Pacific US moves (no combat) if I’m wrong about the above - still learning this map!
-
That’s a good point. I brought it up in the League discussion thread and we can ask gamerman to make a mod ruling decision, but I did find a couple posts in the Rules Discussion that clarifies the intent of the designers. This is probably a case where fan-made rules don’t get quite the rigourous editing and polish as the base game (although, to be fair, there are plenty of errata in the official published games!)
-
@Stucifer Makes sense to me! Sorry for the hassle - was going based on the wording of the Rules and the BM Rules. I saw that Axis-Dom had the same interpretation that I did (that air units aren’t land units), so it’s good to have it settled by the game designers!
Are you ok with me making changes to the US Pacific non-combat move, and re-doing the Anzac combat turn? There wouldn’t be any combat that we’d have to roll for, thankfully.
-
Yes, go ahead and redo the ANZAC turn with edited US NCM.
-
No hassle, there’s a lot of rules and exceptions in A&A and things that can happen like The Sneaky Carl (if you haven’t heard of that, it’s a gem)

@Stucifer Lol, I’d never heard it called that, but the UK DD in Japan sea zone with Anzac DOW can be a real kick in the nuts if Japan hasn’t guarded against it.

You know, it’s quite rude to be offered an edit and use it to exploit someone. Some might even say, devilish.

Good thing I’m used to such ill-mannered behavior 😈😈

@peirce said in L25 PTV Stucifer (X+12) vs peirce (L):

I was tempted to let it lie, but I felt that:
A) you would have made the transport-killing move in the first place if you had seen it;
B) integrity of the game being accurate to the rules so we both are satisfied with the outcome win or loseCertainly wouldn’t want there to be another situation where I was owed a scramble and it was a much bigger retcon/game changing decision
-
To point A, if you had seen it before you moved, I am curious why you didn’t do that in the first place
-
wish we could edit our posts here, but I understand why we can’t…
I meant to say before the Edit of NCM
-
@Stucifer Understood re both points - better for us to just use the rules as they are. As to why I didn’t do that in the first place, it’s because I’d rather have the 2x fighters in Sydney (with the bomber dead) than the 4 transports dead but losing an extra DD. It was close, but I’d rather be certain that Anzac can defend itself for the foreseeable future than eliminate the transports closer to home.
