I think a good idea for 1914 would be to require at least 1 infantry to be stationed in every territory by the end of a power’s turn (the infantry must be from the power controlling. If they don’t, they won’t get the IPCs from this territory. Not only does it potentially make the game more historically accurate (to symbolize the need to keep civilian populations under control during wartime), but it probably also makes the game more balanced, as the Allies will probably be more burdened with this (since they have substantially larger colonial possessions).

I am working on an house rule for the research and development in G40!

The plan is that every nation has the chance to do research (except china).
This gives new strategic possibilities. For example, German rocket attacks in round one.
The ipc expenditure is calculated from the income of the respective nation:

Sorry not smart enough to figure out how to post link directly on the forums, but over at Brian Wassom’s YouTube Channel, under the video discussing our House Rules, we have added a link to the Abandon Monitoring Station’s Integrated Rulebook and House Rules. This combines two projects: (1) integrates the Europe and Pacific rulebooks into a more user friendly version with cross references back to the original rulebooks when rule debates break out; and (2) incorporates the house rules we used when playing games 11 & 12 of the series.

Would love some thought and comments on the rule variants. We borrowed and modified a bunch that was available here and there and then play tested and modified some more. Comments to date range from “great ideas” to “you suck and broke the game.” We do think the OOB rules are Axis tilted and maybe its because we are bad, but these rules were really fun when we played with them and it opens a boatload of new strategies. Looking for input to improve these for the future.

Here are couple rules
Ships at Port:
When moving to a friendly sea zone, ships can choose to enter a friendly territory. While not at sea, the ships are not subject to combat nor do they interfere or add with any other ship movement, combat, or amphibious assaults. Movement into the territory is free, but costs 1 MP to leave. If the territory is captured while ships there, then they are lost (scuttled). Land units may move to a territory and finish their move on a transport that is also in port. At that point the transport can sail loaded to the adjacent sea zone. Once a transport is in the sea zone it can unload as normal. Ships must leave by the sea zone in which they entered the territory.
Mines vs. Transports: Mine hits on transports can be absorb by loss of a load.

In terms of movement the port works the same as AAP, its not a new zone.

Under these rules the only way to get them out of port forcibly is by “dislodgement” by taking the territory by land, the naval units are put out to sea which will cause a naval battle on the following turn if enemy ships are blockading.

Also, i would limit air attacks at one round, with AA providing flak fire if present in the territory.

So under these rules the only time a port would be under attack is if you have like a single ship defending or overwhelming odds by air power knowing these planes will be loses
