  • this game is sucking up too much time… each turn is so complex that i’m finding myself taking a long time to get through it, and still made a major blunder.

    and sea lion games seem almost impossible to win against axis, just too much is required of america and russia is not the beast like it is in bm in sea lion games… it’s next to impossible to liberate london, and trying for another route is just also very hard. idk with sea lion being too easy for axis, it severely limits what uk can do in the opening round. i’m about to get my 4th sea lion against stucifer. it’s stupid. i was enjoying ptv but sea lion being too easy is a huge turnoff tbh

    @axis-dominion Keep in mind that Russia remained a thorn in the Japanese side with its investments for many turns, and still advanced against Germany and held the line for a long time.

    I would argue that UK being able to not respect a G1 naval purchase limits the options for the Axis, and the Axis should be the one with the most options early game. The Sealion also forced a J4 which put Japan basically 1 turn behind everything it was supposed to be doing.


  • it’s not about disrespecting a naval buy, not even close. even with a FULL buy and only scrambling scotland i got sea lioned and wiped out completely like not even close, at a score of > 70 against peirce. i’d agree if by disrespect you meant uk can buy nothing in london or very little. but a full buy??


  • at least in this game vs you i managed well for a while, but vs peirce he’s about to wipe me out very early. it’s so sad. grant it he got extra luck but still, average was still very high in london for him.

    @axis-dominion I was referring to our game where all the air went out of range of the cap on UK2. 100% German commit to Sealion should not win the game against a 100% defense by UK, and I really don’t think it does.


  • sea lion vs a full london buy really shouldn’t be as feasible as it was for peirce. i urge you to consider this feedback. i would think coming from me given my ranking you’d consider it more carefully. doubt i’ll be picking up more games until i feel this point is addressed. not saying make it impossible to sea lion, of course, but as it stands it’s just too easy and i’m willing to bet it’s going to be the more common strategy for axis, which is the opposite of one of the stated goals of being more historical.


  • air base scrambling is pretty cool and it’s grown on me, but i will say it really neutralizes the one big advantage allies have in a sea lion game, namely, that russia can sustain a high income by skirmishes on european soil. first thing peirce did was plant an AB in slovakia lol. so dumb… i think japan doing that in asia (as i did vs china) was also very hampering, but not as bad i think as stunting the russians in a sea lion game.

    I’ll check the peirce Sealion game, but Sealion balance was already tweaked during initial playtesting. Keep in mind that Russia is significantly stronger in PTV than in BM as well. In our game, you could have stacked Romania with Russia by landing Allied air early on in the game, and that would have yielded a 15 PU delta that Germany would struggle to clear for a while.

    PTV has existed for 5 years, and most games I’ve seen haven’t been Sealion.

    Also isn’t this game proof that Sealion isn’t overpowered? Unless you feel I didn’t execute it well.

    i think that’s going to change, and has already started happening. like i said, i’m now about to be in 4 sea lion games out of my last 4 allies games. 4 for 4 lol.


  • i think it was just a matter of the community realizing that sea lion is much easier and feasible to pull off, so there’ll be a large uptick in occurrences.
