Hey, I have a feeling I should learn the rules of this version. So I changed an American and British move into a combat move in the non com. I hope that’s okay. They were both walk ins. In Syria I assumed you would take the infantry, but you can edit if you’d like and take a German fighter or the stuka. You’ve got some targets of opportunity. Bad luck to you! But have fun. You did but they flipped to the Axis with Vichy and then you killed them. I use my sz98 TT to land the inf and AA from Malta onto S France.
This was confusing. What you might have said is: "No, because Vichy already happened and all French troops are now Axis Neutral. You will have to kill them like all enemy combatants but have an added bonus of taking over their territory and receiving their ipc value. If I had known that I would have attack the Algerian soldier.

They are enemy territories now, you have to do it on combat move.
