  • And now we’re playing just for fun, but I’m just going to have to give the dice a win again.
    No disrespect meant.
Classic is just too volatile for me, plus a few other things I really have a hard time accepting after experiencing improved versions for decades.
The nostalgia is fantastic, the Triple A map looks beautiful.

We actually had TWO ONE PERCENT results on the German luftwaffe in five rounds, PLUS a highly unlucky result by the allies in between those two!! Maybe the guys who call it a beer and pretzels game are right after all.

I won’t ask for units back and continue since the Allies took it hard in round 4, but if you like the game (I do except for extreme dice on the most important units in the game) and want to make some kind of offer to reverse some of that result, I may be interested.

I have a game or two more going on than I really want, so I’m more liable to resign this one :( :(

    !!!

  • Thanks for the highly competitive game and your considerable sportsmanship, plus tips,

I had fun, see you in the (2) finals!!

  • @gamerman01

I mean to be fair. You should not have been wasting your time attacking the allied fleet with just German planes. You were bound to lose them like this eventually and the planes are more worth more to the axis alive than the allies. Especially since the economies are not bloated like in G40 and everything outside of ground units cost more. And as you can see they are harder to replace with a small economy.

If you look at my games with @The_Good_Captain, we throw away planes on calculated risks otherwise we both do our best to protect our planes. We also never attack the allied fleet again after turn 1 no matter how juicy the target.

  • If were talking about the battle that just occurred in the North Sea, the first thing I notice is that Germany has a 67% chance to win (which is thin odds for me esp for high value all the German pieces are).

The next thing I notice is that the TUV is 12 points in Germany’s favor which is basically one piece.

Lastly, I notice that for whichever side wins the fight, there is predicted to be roughly two pieces left.

So @gamerman01 where did you interpret a 1% result? Or am I misunderstanding what you meant? Everything looks pretty vanilla and unsurprising on my end.

  • Yeah this is why I hesitated to say anything, but with what happened it was really irresistible to me.

I understand what you two are saying, but I respectfully and mostly disagree, even though you have all this Classic experience.

It’s a 1% chance the Allies would score 5/6 hits on that roll, @The_Good_Captain .

Do not look at the overall battle result, it was a hit and run and I had no interest in downing the Allied planes.

@Ragnell804 was impressive to me, how he stayed silent on unfavorable dice. That is good. But you just can’t have a 1% result on the German airforce, and do not tell me after the fact that I shouldn’t have made the attack - something less than an extreme result and I would have been fine.

  • @gamerman01

I did not mean my comment from a 20/20 hindsight obviously with that bad roll you shouldn’t have taken it talk but from a I have been there done that before.

I stayed silent because I know crazy dice rolls happen in this game, I do not comment much on posts and the previous turn did not warrant a response since you didn’t say anything either. Yeah, a 1% happened on the German air force this turn, but you also rolled a 5/6 on turn 4 with me rolling 0/5, which, without doing the math, is probably close to a 2% or less chance. Based on that, you came into this battle with at least 1-2 more planes than you should have. Even then in this battle you rolled up again with your plane attack, taking out an extra unit, its just the allies hit back harder than expected.

I say you shouldn’t have made the attack because that is just a thing I also learned the hard way not to attack the allied fleet since eventually the Germans come up short having to replace planes constantly. That and eventually you will get a bad roll that comes up or the allies roll hot, like happened in our original tournament game, its like the gamble of the AAA fires, great if they miss but when it hits it hurts a lot. Ftrs are so expensive that replacing them hurts your ability to push into Russia since you are losing on 4inf with the buy.

Looking at the board state I can tell you that Germany despite the constant killing of the allied fleet could not move forward past East Europe just because you have spent a lot of IPC into the air force. This is all pending non-insane dice of course.

  • @gamerman01

ah, the strafe - now I see where you got it. Understood.

I didn’t know this was your intent and that’s why I asked about the 1%.

  • I really appreciate a response like that -

I might respond later for the purpose of mutual enjoyment, not to prove points, for now I’ll just say I definitely agree Germany had no expansion abilities and was waiting for Japan as I imagine most pro games go, not that I would know.

I’m not sure what we should do about the unfortunate @VictoryFirst absence, he’s a great guy to play with.
If a few others, like you guys, decide, maybe we give elche the advancement by forfeit and so @Ragnell804 won’t have to wait quite as long to show he’s the champion

  • @gamerman01

No worries, I am currently playing Elche in the tournament. We are currently in Round 4.

  • 2025

Lol I said two times currently.

Probably still going to take a long time until Ragnell gets to play the finals but at least progress is being made.

  • Oh, well that is good news!
Coming back to your other games, too? I think you had quite a few
