Why, may I ask, is Russia collecting $42 on R1 with Germany attacking on G1?
Germany puts a sub in SZ125. Takes Baltic States and Eastern Poland. At best Russia is going to take back Baltic Sates. That gives Russia $36.

I played Germany as ferocious offensive juggernaut to see if Red Skies could hold them off. And I went cobra kai so ignored Baltic/East Poland.
Luckily I was able to destroy the 2 year old I was playing against. He was way better at the game than you.

Russia spends $36 on R1 because it starts the game with $37. By saving $1 and collecting $36 that gives them $37 for their R2 Purchases. So again, how are you getting $42?
Only by NOT moving the German sub, the magical mystical one you seem to be forgetting about, in SZ124, to SZ125.
All of your purchases are too high because you played Germany extremely poorly. And, even if they were correct, it wouldn’t matter. Spending $72 of Russian money on bombers instead of infantry is sheer lunacy.

And don’t worry, since he didn’t accept my challenge to a game and acted like a dick again (and why I finally hit him back) I finally blocked him. He and one other guy seem to be following me around and acting like dicks for no reason. I’ve ignored them both until today. I’m surprised the other guy hasn’t shown up yet.

Disagreeing with your ideas is not disrespect. If he is disagreeing with your ideas, it’s because of the depth of his experience has taught him that your ideas are probably based on what works against inexperienced players.

Not sure what timezone you are in but im up for a game, would be fun to see how your strats work out when not playing against yourself.
Playing against yourself always leads to gaps because you cannot think of something you didnt think of.

I’m just having fun trying to be creative as it makes the game even more exciting. It would be great to play against other humans.
I used to go into these solo games trying to play as most people would to see if strat works - I would post photos here and ask what would people do on UK turn or whatever… and always got no responses so just plowed ahead. I now go into each solo game starting with knowing the strategy and trying to stop it from turn one - live games I’d prob get at least a turn before they figure out the scope of strat and try to stop it

Well online play just enables you to play more games against people from all over the world.
Otherwise your limited to who you know in your direct area. Most people i know wont go traveling for 4+ hours 1 way for a game.
Like I said, lets bring back the Youtube wars. Each country films their turn, uploads, next guy goes. I could play a ton of games online but I will lose interest 10 minutes in and check out. That’s just me. If it were Civ II I’d be up until 3 in the morning playing lol (wow that memory brings me back to 1997).
I think the last Youtube war I saw was 1914 beta test and that was super exciting watching the event cards being pulled - and Russian Revolution happening on earliest possible point because GHG rolled a 12. Communists getting such an early start turned them into a giant.
@AndrewAAGamer the game is different when you are first learning, and playing against yourself. Fun to try out radical ideas, especially when you are guaranteed victory regardless of the outcome.
I am glad to see new A&A.org members with so much energy and enthusiasm. The forum has been mostly dead for a few years without such folks posting “bold” ideas.

It brings a lot of challenges though, first you have to video parts, then put them on youtube and then the rest also in parts.
Say for example you attack SZ110, then you have to first ask me if i want to scramble.
Then after you rolled your dice you have to ask me what units i want to lose. Sometimes its obvious what you want to lose but not always.
And you need to keep the board setup for a long period of time, i can keep a board up for 1 week maby 2 but thats it.
And you have to document and comment every move, on video its hard to figure out just how many units are where. Once you get over 20+ its harder to see.
So its much easier to just play via tripleA, i did that a lot of the time because travel makes real board just difficult.
Okay, you don’t want to play Youtube wars, and that’s fine.
I’ve watched many, many, people from this forum play the game this way with very little problem. They discuss on vid, “I had to call Garg and ask him if he wanted to scramble,” and such. Thanks to technology getting a hold of someone is easier than ever.
My wife went on vacation over a month ago. While she was gone I decided to break out G40 for first time in like 7 years or so. I set it up on the floor of the great room and dogs kept knocking pieces over. I assumed I would pack it up and send it back to the basement when wife returned. She actually suggested getting a table from garage and setting it up so dogs won’t knock over pieces.
So for over a month the game has been set up on table 12 feet from my work station so I’m basically staring at the board at least 10 hours a day (I WFH 50+ hours/wk). Having the board set up and staring at you every waking moment, you come up with ideas. So now every new idea I’m going to set it up and roll it and see how it works.
I joined this forum 6 years ago just to communicate with GHG better. Forum is pretty dead, but I’m so excited playing new strats by myself I’m sharing it here and hoping to get people active again.
I’m finally starting to get constructive criticism (which I’m looking for) instead of, “Try this strat and you will lose,” comments without any comment on the strat or what they would do different, etc.
Having the game set up next to my work station has put a ding in my productivity - prob an hour a day. But I work over 50 hours a week and only get paid for 40 so I’m okay with that.
Calling someone is easy if they are in the same timezone. I played people from the other side of the world as well using forum and tripleA.
Did you have a look here at the forum of the playbyforum section. It lacks the videos but you can see all the moves and dice and stuff.
Playing against yourself is always a risk as someone else might see something you overlooked or behave different. But yea forum is kinda dead most likely because game does become old after years or play with the same people.
And it does take a while to play, i still have some meetups with friends where we got like 3-4 boards in the same room and play for the whole day but even that is hard to organize.
So, I stopped reading these posts but Marshmallow’s post has brought this back to my attention.
First, let me say, I honestly did not realize you were playing solo. The way you described the Germans actions I thought you were describing what someone else did. But, rereading this, I do see you did clearly say you were playing solo.
Based on that I do agree I was out of line. I have no issue criticizing a strategy that is being poorly executed but I never want to actually slam the player themselves.
Therefore, I do apologize for my out of line post.
Do you want me to go back and edit it to say “Well, if the Germans are going to execute such a poor attack on Russia then yes, you will have the money to buy those bombers?”
I only ask, instead of just editing it myself, because you have quoted the original post. I assume, when I edit the original post, it will not change any quoted posts. I do not want you to feel I am secretly editing or deleting something that I said that I should not have said; I totally believe in accountability.
