Went through the history quickly. A couple of points:

Solid early game which is the most important part of the game. Mid game, I much prefer taking the German fast units and taking over the Middle-East and potentially Egypt/India instead of staying in front of Moscow. You do give Russia some breathing room and income, but it’s strictly defensive and can’t be used anywhere other than in the defense of Russia, while German increased income and reduced UK income has impacts everywhere.

If Japan doesn’t fight Russia, doesn’t take India and doesn’t kill China, then the minimum it should be doing is keeping the DEI. You had to focus enough on naval power to have the DEI at the end of the Japan turn nearly every time, or else that’s a lot of missing income and it’ll get harder to contest naval.
