G5.tsvg I agree its an Achilles heel with the fighter push strategy you have mastered. Otherwise, my games with @Karl7 make me feel that the Germans are best invested in the Mediterranean. I have two games with Karl where the Italian fleet heads out to the Atlantic (one where he did it as the Germans and one where I did it as the Germans) and in each game, imo - it would have been better to stay in the Med. Not a hard opinion. Just a soft opinion at first whiff.

I think it’s an Achilles heel in the sense that it devolves the game into a series of are basically coin flips in the Atlantic. Under my current understanding of the game balance when using OOB rules, neither UK or US can realistically afford to divert money during the initial game turns to buy combat-capable naval units (mostly because naval units pre-AA50 are extremely expensive). This basically means that UK/US have to rely on whatever Destroyers survive the G1 attacks + the Russian Sub to clean up the Atlantic, which is a losing battle any way you slice it.

Yeah… that’s what I kinda thought too but it didn’t really work out that way. The Germans give up any threat to the ME and Africa the instant the fleet leaves the Med. I …“feel” that the small bit of experience I have with this is that the W. Allies can defuse the situation with a thorough understanding of the rules and of course and a hyper efficient use of IPC and purchases.
