hello all, I bought the 1940 2nd edition, PAcific version of the board game to get my 7 year old son away from computers haha!
however now he wants to play it and I am really baffled about how to keep score. i only have about 1-2 hours per week, and barely know how to start.
the IPC tracking etc are hard to keep track of when you only play every other Saturday for 2 hours!
Fasthard @fasthard kindly gave me the BM4_XvsL_GER1_20241001-v1 download with macros, and it is mind blowing!
i am in Australia, East Coast. is there anyone I could ask if I can call or video call or whatsapp to get some tips so I don’t keep disappointing my son? :)
basic questions to get going. eg what does BM4 mean.

@allister i adapted the excel to Pac, not totally perfect but ready for your game!
You can change the terr owner via drop down below the territory (European forces will be removed in further versions ;-)).
National objectives will be counted also (just check the checkboxes if the political situation changes). In best case correctly, didn’t found time to check them.
You can also add or subtract in the convoy and capture/rest column. (+convoy will be subtracted)
On the buttom left side there are the calculations (please only edit political situation checkbox and convoy/rest), on button right there you can “store” the IPCs and round.

I have never used any of this type of tracking workbook, but I guess in this community it is a regular thing. Is there an instruction form or loom video of a basic usage?
Example instructions
when playing a new game, adjust tab 1 etc etc
when Japan has its turn, first it will use the purchase Japan tab z etc etc.
I am guessing there is something somewhere but hoping for a "keyword"5 to search for to find it?

@allister I don’t think that anybody here uses this excel. I created it because i was fed up with recounting territories and ipcs. In the “IPC track” tab there is everything you need to count IPCs.
There is also a tab “purchase” where you can calculate your purchases (not yet adapted for pacific).
@fasthard once again, thank you! we had a bunch of things come up and only dabbled with your Pac version so far (Pac_XvsL_GER1_20241103)
however, it will be an absolute life-saver!
There is a tab with the MAP, and then i presume we use the IPC Track tab to review and update the game? just making sure that the map isn’t meant to overlay the excel grid?
also keen for any further updates you do to Pacific Version, well done!
@allister yes, correct.
The ‘map’ tab is only a picture which helps to build up the board game.
I recommed to save as new table for each new game. (And keep the initail version as it is) Maybe also save new table during the game (every round, 2nd round) to have an insureance if excel crashes anytime ;-).
@fasthard thank you. Also have noticed that Caroline island (33) seems to be missing, and some others, from IPC tracker? What do you recommend i do? Is this because Pacific version is different to BM?
@allister these territories are not ipc relevant, therefore I omitted them
