and land units can move into a friendly neutral duirng noncom, says nothing about it needing to be an attacking land unit:
and elsewhere in other contexts (not related to friendly neutral), when they wanna be specific, they do mention “attacking land unit.” so it’s not like it’s a mistake, it’s purposely worded that any land unit could do it.

you can blame the dice, but this strategy is hard to make work. i have yet to see it succeed. one thing that may have improved your chances was not losing your med fleet, but kinda hard to prevent that with all that uk firepower sitting there not having anywhere else to go but suicide into your fleet. normally in this kind of SL game italy needs to play a bigger role in defense of the european fronts and/or taking egypt/ME etc… but here your italians were fairly depleted, including their airforce.
