Im not talking about a digital Map, but a real one. I consider myself very artistically minded so I think I could do it without it looking too bad. What materials would I need, how much time would it take? I wanna do a global map from about 1920.

@Azimuth yeah, I understand the challenge, I’m a graphic designer and I was playing around with a circular map design when I stumbled upon yours. I still might finish my design as I was incorporating some map changes I found interesting. But so far I think I’ll need some blow up boxes or something to make it work at a reasonable size.

I’ve started work on some low cost customization for Europe 1940 2nd edition (and will include pacific 1940 2nd edition when I get it). I was able to get some player aids from https://www.axisandallies.org/forums/topic/21752/game-aids-a-a-1940-global-2nd-edition. I’m also going to implement a resource system into the game, that will introduce resource costs for units (such as steel to buy tanks). Also, there will be an upkeep cost for units, eg: Each tank you have mobilized will cost a certain amount of oil per turn. This is to make the game more realistic, and to discourage unit spamming. I also plan to add more units to the game. That’s all for now

What a great idea Der Kuenstler. I was feeling intimidated because I don’t know how to post pics here of what I’ve been up to the last couple of weeks since I dusted off my games and brought them out of the closet. I’ve been inspired to customize a room in my house by all the great people on here who have been so passionate about doing their own customizations and it’s been a lot of fun for me at a time when I’m not able to do much else. I’ve still got a little ways to go but so far the Great White Northern Bunker is coming along nicely and there’s lots of time to finish it before the long hard winter and the impending march to Moscow begins…or when I return to work…whatever comes first.

My pleasure. Good luck with your project. When you refer to putting the unit images in each country, are you talking about modifying a digital version of the map or are you talking about printing out something on paper and placing it on the physical map? Just wondering.

I plan on modifying the digital map from YGH’s post a while back. I do like the map that cyanight made for his sheet metal table, so i think i may end up using that one (base map is the same as YGH’s, but with a couple of alterations) http://www.axisandallies.org/forums/index.php?topic=33872.0

You can’t teach this because the learning curve is high for Illustrator CS, You just have to do it and struggle and it may take 10 years to be really good. I do suggest NEVER USE PAINT SHOP PRO. Their is nothing “pro” about it. It will destroy your computer from day one. Also, to save a few hundred bucks, buy an educational version ( its the same) using a student ID, you can just join the school and not even register for classes, just to get the ID and buy the program in the student store–make sure they have it in stock first.

You could register for a night class in basic Photoshop and Illustrator which would get you that student ID card and an introduction to the software.
