germany buys sea lion.

What do you do on europe uk1? aside from buying all infantry. I send cruiser fighter to dd tran. then sink bb cruiser and i ship out 1 fighter 1 bomber from uk with the starting navy that is already there and the malta fighter… however there is 25% chance for defender to win if he scrambles… I really hate those games… so I am thinkin of sending 1 more fighter and just biting the bullet from sea lion.

Send the extra fighter or no?

In addition to forces above I’ll send the strategic bomber from England and fighters if their still around from the scramble for your fleet. If you send the fighters from England you have to commit your carrier. Lose those fighters 1st if you feel you might retreat. This gives you two additional fighters and a bomber.

I like to do this sometimes. � Instead of buying a Navy in G1 - I’ll just do a basic buy, either troops or a plane and troops. � UKE will lower their defenses (I didn’t buy Navy, I’m obviously not going UK) and will focus on the med or Africa. � G2 - transports (5-7 depending), launch on G3 - take it 85% of the time. � Then just move on down to Gib, let Italy out - and take out US. � Hasn’t worked quite like that yet, but its come close a couple of times.

My 92 stack gives the UK incredible flexibility in defending sealion, and still threatening italy. I would have like 5 less infantry than normal, but I will be bringing home all of my air, navy, and maybe the malta garrison. Easily makes up for it.

So you stack 92 on UK1 - you’re going to be leaving the Med on UK2 to protect against Sealion? Then Italy grabs Gib on their turn…

Maybe I’m a stupid player, but I send the house as Italy when UK sits in 92. I then let Germany clean up on their turn (planes from Italy, HB’s from W. Germany). It only sets me back 1 round.

Are you buying an AB UK1 for Gib?

I would leave the med only if Germany had a super strong sealion. I would calculate how much that is needed to hold it, and send the rest on italy. Usually I would buy an airbase if I need to scramble. This move helps to preserve the UK fleet and to give options UK2.

Yeah, I know.

I normally drill Ethiopia, often with both loaded transports and both cruisers.
I’m not sold on ALWAYS attacking an Italian fleet right away, though pasting Z95 fleets netted me 2 easy wins (but I got really luck dice both times)

I just attacked Iraq on UK1 for the first time vs. Allweneed. In hindsight it was brilliant, because the Iraqis never killed a single man - it was like Desert Storm, I guess. :evil:

I’m not sure what circumstances led me to do that - mainly a J1 attack, I think. Then you have 2 transports 2 spaces from reinforcing India on UK2 if necessary. You can’t say that about most other UK deployments.

Also if Japan holds off until J2 to DoW, but the US player is either dead certain it will happen or hopes to discourage Sea Lion, they can slap a Naval Base on Greenland and load it up with their starting Atlantic forces US1, then drop the troops off in Scotland or Ireland US2. If London is saved at that point, you’re still in a decent position to threaten landings from France to Norway, or even farther if the UK player can be accommodating enough to give you a Naval Base.

Thanks for the detail. I think I am going to have to leave SZ 97 alone. Even without German fighters, it is too risky to attack. What that does do, is allow Germany to not have to move fighters south since the attack on 97 is no longer truly feasible UK1.

The few games I campaigned through China I used the jap aa gun to try and kill that ftr. I remember it worked at least once. a small stack against a chinese attack that is light on arty means China will have to bring the ftr to have the punch to clear the zone. This can work great if you are cutting the Burma road every round.

I also did air raid it the first game I played Japan too. I just don’t think that ftr is really worth gunning for. Now if it could leave China or attack the sz’s on the coast it would be dead meat.

I’d rather kill that ftr when its attacking than having to go in and dig it out when its rolling 4’s.

The rest of your analysis may be true, but the bolded assumption is false. Control of Morocco does not influence movement into or out of the Med. Only Gibraltar has that value (similar to control of Denmark to the Danish Straits). Unless Germany can take Gib (not Morocco), Britain remains able to move back out to SZ 91.

Really? I thought they had to hold control both. Well I suppose with two transports and a bomber in range Germany might be able to take Gibraltar but it seems unlikely.
