In the case you have explained it can. If Germany has taken any UK territory(Canada or Africa), then the US will collect the income if it retakes it.
As soon as London is liberated, the former UK territories the US recaptured from the Germans will return to the UK.
Us invasion question

we are pretty new to a&a, so in our last game USA was in Algeria with 4 full transports on US2 while Germany ‘retreated’ his africa-units deeper into Africa (UK left for india). Uk was busy fighting Jap so he was short on landingships/units in England but moved into WE because Germany pulled their units back to berlin around T5. Then USA landed with 8 tank 8 inf and 4 fig in WE and stands no chance the German army which gathered in berlin with like 30 tanks + inf and couple fig.
any (general) advise about landing/invasions in such a scenario?

If you are saying that the Allies are landing Western Europe heavily, even reinforcing with fighters when Germany can reliably kill their beachhead, then it’s probably a bad idea unless the Allies are so far behind they need Germany to get diced. I don’t go heavily into Western Europe unless I can hold it for the rest of the game or I can hold it for a turn and have enough transports that I can pull out most of my units before Germany overwhelms them.
