Thanks Panther that is what I thought.
Abattlemap module

well, thanks for trying but the size isn’t quite right. every pieces needs to be exactly 20x15 pixels, making the entire file 420x75 pixels. However, if you are satisfied with simply re-sized toolpieces, that is easy for me to make. It is blurry, tho, so I hope someone else will make one of better quality. Here is the file, attached, which you can download, remove the “.jpg”, and then place in your P40.gim folder.
The photo editor wouldn’t let me get it exactly. For 75 pixel height it was giving me something like 474 instead of 420 to have 100% sizing. When I tried entering 420 it would default the other parameter to 66. How do you actually do it? Do you allow for distortion? Why will it not work if the parameters are other than 20x15 pixels?

Good questions. The reason the your image editing program was changing the other parameter when you enter one is because it was trying to keep the aspect ratio of the original image. The big toolpieces do not have the same aspect ratio as the small toolpieces, so I just resized each aspect individually (most programs have a check box which says something like “Maintain Aspect Ratio” that you have to uncheck), so yes, my BigPieces that I attached is a little “distorted”. The reason each toolpiece has to be exactly 20x15 pixels is because that is how the ABattlemap program knows what part of the bitmap image you make is a toolpiece. Does that make sense?

Started played a AAP40 ABattleMap game.
Would you please change the National Objectives to the ‘Oil’ on the Income chart? (Instead of being grouped in with the IPC line)
It’s a big help during game play to list incomes, then add together.
Example:(Territories+NOs+old cash=$Total at the end of turn.)
Income:
10+5(NO)+1=$16 -

Yes, that was my assumption. I guess I’m not as lame with computers as I thought.

So I decided to try and make a new P40 module with the toolbar thing at the bottom… when I was finished, opening the module in ABattleMap crashes the program immediately.
sooo, does anyone know what I did wrong??? Thanks for your help!So I found out that the reason my new module was crashing the program is because the map has to be smaller than 2000x1000 pixels. So, the easy fix was to just do what someone had already suggested: putting the toolbar on the side. The, however, leads me to ask the question, will we be able to make a module for P40 + E40 that is less than 2000 pixels?
Anyway, I made the new module, which includes all of the updates from the existing module, plus the following changes:
-added toolbar
-changed borders of SZ52/SZ50, SZ5/SZ6, and Korea/Amur
-added some relief to the territories/zones
-added some texture using a random picture of clouds that I found
-added Axis & Allies logo to SZ52Since this module is not compatible with the old one, I’m going to keep it separate for now and wait to see if anyone has suggestions for changes (or wants to make changes themselves). This way we can minimize the number of times an update breaks compatibility with exiting game save files.
With that said, you can install the new module alongside the old. It is called P4B.gim, and in ABattlemap the map is named Axis & Allies Pacific 1940 Beta Module. Download it here.
I don’t know who made the AA42 map or how, but I really liked it and tried my best to make this one like that. This is the first time I’ve done a lot of major image editing, so if anyone has any suggestions, advice, tips, requests, etc, send 'em my way. Also feel free to edit the map yourself if you want to make it better: you can download my working canvas (with the layers) here. It is a .PDN file, which may only be usable with the free image-editing program I use, Paint.NET.
Thanks to whoever made the AA42 module for the inspiration, to djensen for the pictures of the control markers I used (hope he doesn’t mind), to TMTM, HolKann, and Attila for instructions on making a module, to pitheist314, and to everyone else who has helped with the updates.

by “annotations” do you mean the territory/zone names that show in in the program’s title bar? They are working fine for me. Is anyone else having trouble? they come from a combination of the sektorinfo.map and sektorinfo.sek files, which I suppose you could have deleted by accident. my only suggestion is try downloading the module again.
I was referring to names on the map itself not the toolbar: similar to the AA50 modules. It makes it alot easier to declare your intentions for moves when playing by forum.
Btw, I like the beta module even with the fuzzy big pieces. Printed names on the map would be icing on the cake. My compliments +1

oh you mean just printed names on the territories? Yeah I suppose I could do that. Do you want full names or just the abbreviations?

Abbreviations for territories and sz numbers would be fine. Thanks in advance.

okay try this and let me know what you think.

Beautiful all over…even with the fuzzy big pieces. Thanks again and +1 for your effort

Yeah pieces and such are a little fuzzy… can you fix it… otherwise it is better. :-)
-
Also- can you make a ABattlemap for AA1942?
thanks

If you don’t use BigPieces they should be fine. I personally do not really want to make new BigPieces because it is rather time consuming for me and I don’t use them myself (I have spent a lot of time on this already :|). However, if you or anyone else wants to make a better bigpieces file you can send it to me and I can include it in the modules I have on mediafire.
Also- can you make a ABattlemap for AA1942?
thanks
There already is a module for AA1942. Is is very nice. That is where I got the “inspiration” for some of the things I did to this P40 map.

Per the suggestion of a forum member, I’ve created a new thread for the Beta module. Please direct all comments pertaining to it to the new thread: http://www.axisandallies.org/forums/index.php?topic=16253.0
I also noticed I forgot to put the AB/NB/AA on Carolines. That is now fixed.

Can you give me the link to the AA42 module- thanks :-)

Hi, Did you figure out how to get it to work without crashing? I don’t know everything… I figured it out by tinkering with it and translating the Germany text and looking at modules made by others.
-
I found out that Attila released an ABattlemap-Update from Version 0.79f to 0.80 in order to make his P40 modules work.
I don’t know if Stoney’s modules are compatible with Attila’s … but maybe the update can solve the problem.See http://www.flames-of-europe.de/ for details.
BTW… did you use Stoney’s latest modules?

Yeah, thanks. saw that the map size should be less than 2000x1000 so I put the toolbar on the side instead of the bottom and it worked.

interesting. Attila’s P40 modules work fine on 0.79f. Maybe the update loosens the size restrictions, in prep for E40 + P40???
