NML 1914 Team Game 12
-
the industry for France idea is not too bad. But will probably have foreseen (by Rommel) and unforeseen consequences later on.
both Turks and France getting industry might balance that out somewhat.
What you think?
-
Happy to try industry for F & T
-
what ever happens I think that germany and france should be played by the two of the top generals and see what happens then.
we should have someone choose who plays what nations and see if that is what we need to do to even things out. -
France cannot do much for defense except for building max units and Trenches in Paris and hoping for some lucky tech…
That “Paris G5 Attack Plan” is derived from Redrums play in one of our earlier games (NML 2 oder NML 3)… made me realize what is possible if Germany really commits.
Barring some unlucky / lucky dice rolls… there is not much Entente can do about it. -
So how do we get from this inconclusive debate of further ideas rather than agreement with previous ones to actually starting a new game?
-
@Private-Panic what was the question again?
I think everyone is in agreement with a simple One Tech answer for both sides
Happy for someone to roll dice for us to start . -
@Witt Fine with me. It does not address the root cause, that we have a very heterogen gaming group, but well…
There I would have been fine with messing around more with the setting (since messing around is fun), but If we all prefer it as least intrusive as possible, then let us go for:
Industry for France and Industry for Turks. Both enabled in their respective turns. I believe that means they will be usable in Turn 2, right?
-
To summarize: Give France industry tech as a bonus and let Turkey keep its industry tech bonus to balance out.
What was left unsaid, but seemed implied is that Turkey loses its 3 infantry bonus.Combine Italy/Arabia and USA powers under one player, to offset Colt not playing this round.
Regards Dawg’s point of having more skilled players for F & G, my thought is not to try implementing this at this time.
French player has more limited scope of operations and can’t hold Paris without UK player’s dedication. The relatively smaller UK garrison in Paris makes all the difference. UK has a much more global scope of operations and balancing the needs of Paris with its other obligations is tricky. Likewise, Germany’s global operations and complex scheduling of units to reach Paris by G5 is easier said than implemented by some formula. -
@Elrood For those of you who are playing NML 1914 in doubles game series, are any of you using bonuses? Have the wins been evenly matched between Entente and CP or lopsided? Has G ever captured Paris, or frequently? Have you used other house rules?
-
@FMErwinRommel I only know it from this gaming series.
-
@Elrood I think if the UK commits heavily to the Western Front they will be able to thwart an early German capture of Paris. In many of the games we’ve played the UK focused on navy and pissed around in Scandanavia. If Britain focused on bringing units over from Canada and London it would be a huge difference.
-
@captainwalker True, but very narrow window of opportunity. Transports have to be built by UK2 for ground troops to be convoyed and in Paris by UK4. Figs have to be built by UK3.
-
@FMErwinRommel also depends on the success of the German first strike… how many UK TTs survive or do not
-
@Elrood Let’s do it?
