Congratulations on the championship game, and to Avner for taking it all and being immortalized in the league history thread!
Just want to make sure - do you both agree this game ended on 1/1/24 and should be counted for 2024 and not 2023?

One playoff ended 12/31 and the other 1/1?

This also gives a few more hours for last minute signups from the last call yesterday.
We have a perfect 8 for OOB
We have 13 for BM
We have 11 for PTVFor BM we then have 5 players for the 2nd playoff.
It would seem there would be 1 play-in game between Dawg and Avner to gain the #4 spot, who would play #1.For PTV we will have a 2nd playoff bracket of 3.
It would seem we should have that #1 seed get a bye and play the winner of #2 and #3This is assuming no one signs up in the coming hours.
I hope no one is disappointed their game can’t start until tonight. The reason is in case someone wants to participate but hasn’t been online for a day or two and didn’t realize they need to sign up.Thanks for understanding. In the meantime, you should practice rolling dice.
More seriously, there is a signup sheet with players in order (there are tie breaker rules for same PPG. The 2023 rules were that most games played breaks the PPG tie), so you can tell who your first round opponent will likely be!! Will be confirmed when the bracket is set tonight.
If you think you have a better idea (for the players who are not quite in the top 8 participating) than what I put above, I’m all ears.

Alright, here’s what we have!
(I also put a copy in the ELO spreadsheet - not sure if we’ll keep them current on both, or choose one)
BALANCED MOD 2nd bracket, we have 5 players. 1, 2, and 3 get byes and 4, 5 Avner and Dawg fight in round 1 and the winner goes up against Sovietishcat
2 and 3 elche and General Disarray may begin their 2nd round game now. Cat will have to wait for Avner and Dawg. That’s right, we may have another fight between Cat and Dawg
PTV 2nd bracket, we have 3 players. #1 mikawa is going to wait for the winner of Dawg and max to play for the 2nd bracket PTV championship
And what else do we have?
Like every year, the playoffs bring us the fun of old rivalries/matchups, and brand new pairings that would probably never happen otherwise.
Last year we had “what if Pejon won the first round and played Ghostglider??”

This is only relevant if you don’t manage 6 completed games in 2024 without that result. Otherwise it makes absolutely no difference.

AndrewAAGamer (axis) defeats me (Allies+20) in BM4
When you are up against a better player, you can still win with good dice.
If your opponent is a lot better, like Andrew is compared to me, you need some incredible luck and/or at least a couple of decisive battles going your way.If however the better player consistently gets favoured by the dice gods from the very beginning to the very end - well that’s just hopeless

@ArtofWar1947 Allies wins over @Stucifer (Axis +9) in game #2A decisive USN victory off New Guinea was the real nail in the coffin, although if it had failed and the battle for Berlin succeeded that also would have ended the game. (Round 11, page 6 if anyone is curious!)
