@simon33 Quite the dastardly plan from zee Germans
BM 23 Playoff Final Gamerman (L+4) vs Farmboy (X)
-
@farmboy it looks like I was a bit lucky there and that the TUV exchange after the US turn was exactly 0.
-
I assume you allow the sub to flee 97, I forgot before ending combat movement phase and Triple A prompted me
Fighters are necessarily on same carriers in 110
Things are getting tense at the Allied conference. Stalin demands tanks and planes from his Allies, Churchill is crying out for US aid in the Atlantic, and the USA ignores them all, consumed with those damn Japs. And losses are heavy.
-
@gamerman01 absolutely re the sub fleeing
-
We can only hope that Hitler is storming around his room screaming that they couldn’t hold Stalingrad for even one round.
-
Churchill says “we can’t even fill our transports”!
Cunningham says, “shut up, the Germans put out subs and dive bombers, we have to keep those transports afloat, you daft man” -

I meant to ask. I do follow American politics (its hard not too since it tends to impact the rest of the world including those of us next door in Canada) but didn’t get the 2016 reference (beyond assuming it was either Trump, Clinton or one of the primary challengers).
-
I’m getting a little into it.
I haven’t had a game that was competitive through 12 rounds since the middle of 2016, and that game was the second round of the playoffs against JDOW, which I went on to lose in 18. I haven’t even attempted to enter the playoffs since then.
Before that, Ghostglider in 2015, 27 rounds.
You may not believe this, and I’m KIND OF trying not to boast, but the documented fact is I have seldom gone more than 13 rounds in my entire career of G40, all the way back to 2012. I do shy away just a bit from playing the top guys because it’s not the kind of fun I’m looking for. and it would seem my games don’t go as long partly because of my play style (Bryansk).
It seems you play some kind of long game. I have been trained to guard against the quick wins (because 1/2 of my games many years ago were against someone who was always going for the throat) and frankly have very little experience with the long grinds.
Blah I’m just saying we’ve got a good game going
-
@gamerman01 If I could have won more quickly, I would have tried. But I do try to play low risk where possible and you haven’t given me ( as far as I can tell) any openings that I could have some confidence I could steal the victory with. So have been playing to get a strong economic position, and keep the US/UK on the outside.
-
@farmboy I was kind of fishing, like you either get it and think it’s hilarious, or you don’t and that’s fine.
Since you ask, in 2016 after failing to pull away from Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton bemoaned “How am I not 50 points ahead??” (like having 50% more of the vote than the Donald)
Because she thought Donald Trump was wholly unworthy, was entering her field of politics as an outsider, she had been first lady for 8 years, and of course Donald Trump is just an offensive, blundering idiot carnival barker etc etc
And then he went on to win. She absolutely could not fathom what was happening to her and how she was losing the contest while she thought she was doing all the right things and it was “her turn”, as she put it. -

Actually, “pull away” is not the correct way to put it. She was losing at the time.
-
@gamerman01 I don’t remember the specific comment but I thought it might have been a reference to something like that.
-
I’m not going to look it up, but I think I said that when I knew you were in a similar time zone and was guessing that you may be American
-
yeah. I think we are probably the same time zone if you are in Ohio? I’m just a few hours drive North East. in Toronto, Ontario.
-
I’m a few moves behind, on my physical board
Will be enjoyable to catch it up! -
I just came back here to make sure you didn’t overlook my save file, and there was your Italy, a day ago! Not the first time that’s happened.
ANZAC/France should be easy, I’ll play them now
-
@gamerman01 no worries. I should have realized with the conversation you might not have seen it.
-
Because you almost always move in less than 24 hours I looked, so your regularity keeps it going even when it’s my turn!
-
And then I forgot to put in game notes -
2 French are on 1 UK transport.
I guess I can utilize all UK transports in round 13 after all -
Sweetens the pot a little for you
