@simon33 Sorry. Travelling. Will continue on Sunday or Monday.
Re Nornandy. Yes, sorry, I wanted to write a note (that you edit it) with a savegame but forgot.
@ArtofWar1947 Lots to consider, planning to post tomorrow.
@mr_stucifer
With PTV things can get complicated quickly. No rush.
@ArtofWar1947 Hopefully this works, I tested in Local Game and the save function seems to work fine for pausing in between rounds of combat, not sure if that’s what you were doing or not with our fleet battle earlier. It seems like I can use that to edit hits at the end of the round as well, since you are supposed to be able to pick casualties from subs and everything else simultaneously (not always important, but might be here).
I put hits on everything that could get tipped first; let me know if you want to change any of the casualty selections before I continue.
@ArtofWar1947 Also I attached the save game for the other combat actions & buys if it impacts your decision.
@mr_stucifer
I do not see the save file on AA web site or attached to the mail.
I am having a hard time figuring out what is the situation is.
I got an email that indicated the Japanese AA on the C-I rolled a 6, and a US SBR on the Carolines got a 6? What was attacked, the air field or the naval base? How does the bomber have enough gas to do it?
The screen shot is showing a second bomber?
So, the US delivered 9 hits total on the first AND second round, and the Japanese delivered 8 first-round hits and 6 second-round hits?
@mr_stucifer
I used Play by Forum before and just did not proceed until I got your reply.
Why am I getting Marti emails if you are using Local Game?
Confused in Champaign.

I used a Tactical bomber for that from the fleet that was next to Carolines. It hit the Air Base.

No sorry I used Play by Email or Play by Forum and then made a save. I tested using local game earlier to make sure the save worked.

USA 9 Hits on the first round
Save File:

@mr_stucifer
Light dawns on the SBR.
Tried both 2.5 and 2.6; cannot open the file. Got the following message with 2.6:
Error loading save game, saved version might not be compatible with current engine. InvalidClassException: games.strategy.triplea.delegate.battle.steps.change.CheckStalemateBattleEnd; local class incompatible: stream classdesc serialVersionUID = 5796723751608566005, local class serialVersionUID = -4262341064655161841 If this problem happens frequently and is something you cannot fix, please report it to TripleA
Still not sure what the screen shot represents. As the US already has casualties, it appears to show 6 hits delivered by Japanese surface ships and air on the second round. The defender fires after the attacker. So the US subs, surface ships, air should already have delivered their second blow, correct?
@ArtofWar1947 I stopped after one full round. America got 9 hits (2 from Subs, 7 from fleet+ air). Sorry about the save file. I am using the 2.6 version of triple A for our game now due to an issue with my computer and PtV on 2.5 not working 🤷♀️
@ArtofWar1947 It seems that tripleA/dice emails always start with “round 2” I don’t know if you have experienced this as well. When I look through combat summary or dice emails it always starts with round 2
@mr_stucifer
So the screen shot is the first strike by the Japanese air and surface ships: 6 hits. The Japanese subs got two hits previously–so 8 total.
Given the SBR on the C-I airfield, a follow-up air strike by the UK and/or ANZAC can be expected. So, instead of tipping a third CV and leaving the fleet without air cover, sink the last sub and a DD.

You’ve discovered my cunning plan!
@mr_stucifer
:)
@mr_stucifer
sink the 2 tipped CVs + sink 2 DDs.
@ArtofWar1947 You got 9 hits, I went for another round. Got 3 hits.
@mr_stucifer
Sink DD and down a tac and a fighter.
@ArtofWar1947 Going for broke. You got 4 hits and I went one more round with my damaged BBs and the bomber. Got 3/3 hits
@mr_stucifer
Down 1 tac and fighter, sink CA.
@ArtofWar1947 My apologies for the edits in the post, I thought I could edit the hits live from that first save file but it didn’t work. So I edited damage and units out. I didn’t delete the US units until after the combat - reason is it wouldn’t let me move the air in because of the dead carriers. So I deleted those afterwards (accidentally deleted the Tac, it would have had 3 movement left not 4 from Carolines, I only moved it 3 to SZ 48).
Then I started making moves without turning edit mode off and it wasn’t properly recording the movement used.
I apologize for the headache here, thanks for bearing with me! Looks like you might keep the fleet alive after all.
