Yes it’s probably because I had to redo the turn, because I forgot to save the file.
@MrRoboto said in L23 BM4 Pejon_88 (Allies+17) vs Roboto (Axis):
Now I got so excited about that result, I forgot to save the file…
I have to redo the rest of the combat turn and will edit everything accordinglyWith “rest of the combat” I meant everything after I asked for your OOL
In the correct turn, I actually scored one hit less than in the one I saved and posted:
@MrRoboto said in L23 BM4 Pejon_88 (Allies+17) vs Roboto (Axis):
Germans roll dice for 1 battleship, 2 bombers, 4 fighters and 4 tactical_bombers in 110 Sea Zone, round 3 : 8/11 hits, 6,67 expected hits
This is consistent with the mail from Marti:
Germans roll dice for 1 battleship, 2 bombers, 4 fighters and 4 tactical_bombers in 110 Sea Zone, round 3
Your dice are: 3,4,6,2,1,4,1,4,2,5,1Battleship: 3
2 bombers: 4 | 6
4 fighters: 2 | 1 | 4 | 1
4 tacs: 4 | 2 | 5 | 1Those are the 8 hits.
Now why did I (or we?) only receive those 2 mails and not more? Why did I not receive the mails when I had to repeat the turn? I have no idea, MARTI has been acting wild for quite some time now. In almost every turn, there are some mails missing.
This is an extremely annoying situation, since it creates an atmosphere of distrust. One thing we can do is rolling on the forum, even though this certainly is quite inconvenient. Maybe for bigger battles like that sea battle. Would you prefer that?
-
@MrRoboto Ok, am I then correct that the save file that includes 9/11 hits is incorrect since you say that per the roll we received above “3,4,6,2,1,4,1,4,2,5,1” is 8/11 hits as is the Turn Summary above in round 2? The rest of the battle is then not valid?
-
Exactly, the combats in the save-file are all just the repeated ones.
That’s why I had to edit in the tac and also the 2 inf in Normandy.The turn summary is what happened the first time and what counts
Sorry for the confusion - I probably should have done the repeat turn in local mode instead of “Play by Email”. I’m just so used to clicking “play by mail”, this is basically done without thinking at this point.
-
I also don’t understand your edits of 2 infantry in NB. Also the tac in WG (Based on additional rolls not received?).
-
@MrRoboto said in L23 BM4 Pejon_88 (Allies+17) vs Roboto (Axis):
Germans win, taking Normandy Bordeaux from British with 1 artillery and 2 infantry remaining. Battle score for attacker is 3
This is what originally happened.
In my redo of the turn, I lost those 2 inf.
I edited them backSame with the tac
-
@MrRoboto But I got a roll where I hit with my inf i NB.
-
Yes I have gotten that one too.
That’s the one where you hit (multiple times even!) in my redo of the turn.
I have no idea, why we didn’t receive the mails from the original combat
-
@MrRoboto Ok, I only got that one roll which of course in itself doesn’t help us here…
-
This happens all the time though.
Your attack on Tunisia only gives me the marti mail from your attack but not my defense:
Same with your attack on Sikang
I could find dozens of other examples
-
In your latest attack on Szechwan, I only receive the dice mail from my defense but not from your attack:
-
@MrRoboto But if you also rolled dice more than once in Live mode, all I can do is trust your word here?
-
@MrRoboto By quickly looking I confirm we at least seem to get the same rolls.
-
@MrRoboto I will ask for an outside opinion here to not cause any aggravation here. @gamerman01 please review if you have time.
-
Unfortunately yes. That’s the state of League game right now.
There is a discussion going on too, in the General Discussion thread. Right now we have to live with the fact that we can’t be certain that everything is correct. Everyone can cheat right now and there’s not much we can do about it.
I propose something though: We can roll every major battle on the forum. If you’re feeling safer, we can actually roll EVERY battle here too. I don’t mind, even though it’s more work for us obviously.
And I want to extend an olive branch. That attack on 110 was only a hail mary to take as much with me as possible, it was never meant to succeed. I do know the feeling of being diced, believe me. I have had my fair share of games lost because of crazy dice results.
So, why don’t we pick up after the sub hits and roll everything again on the forum? -
@MrRoboto That’s very gracious of you. Let start by having a 2nd opinion here. I already chatted a bit with Gamerman yesterday so he has an idea what we are talking about. He did vouch for you which means a great deal here. Also your quick replies now is to me proof of your sincerity.
Not correlated to our game , but I actually caught someone cheating once (no longer playing here) and that probably affects my view on things unfortunately.
Thanks!
-
I have too! Back in the days cheating was impossible to hide - they just had to rely on the opponents not checking.
But that’s over for now, I’m afraid.
And that’s why I took part in the discussion with the current uncertainness.
I noticed it a couple weeks ago in another game and I posted several bug reports on tripleA and also on this site because I want this resolved asap. -
@MrRoboto great 😊
-
Excellent, gentlemen, I see the discussions are getting on very well.
I will wait to see if you come to a mutually satisfying resolution to the 110 battle or any others on that German turn. If either of you becomes uncomfortable, please contact me so that there are not negative feelings for either of you.
From what I’ve reviewed so far, I would tend toward Pejon’s cause because of the local vs. PBEM and forgetting to save issues were on MrRobotos end, but it looks like you two will resolve this well, and I do like the idea of rolling on forum for this game going forward. That’s not a ruling, it’s an opinion.
Very encouraging to see this kind of mature and kind behavior so far.
-
Yeah we’re getting along fine :-)
I appreciate the discussion as well.
Do you accept my proposal of re-rolling the combat on the forum after the sub hits? Or do you have a counter proposal?
-
@MrRoboto If you’re happy with that approach I say we go for it. You still have an edge by doing it this way (two hits with subs) which seems fair :)
Just want to clarify a couple of things. As we know we only get part of the rolls for any combat, but so far I’ve accepted that in my games since if I can verify the dice I actually get those in the save file are an exact match. Together with the correct Turn Summary etc. that’s been enough for me. But like Gamerman mentions, the use of the PBEM more than once giving contradictory dice, not saving properly etc. made it impossible for me to be at least somewhat sure that everything was in order.
With that said I don’t mistrust you, but this seems like a fair compromise.
Also, can we confirm how to go about going forward. I really don’t find it enjoyable to roll every single battle in the forum. If we can continue being careful with the saves and posting Turn Summaries I would prefer going back to how we’ve played previous rounds. I one of us is ever uncertain we can roll dice here too, but every battle? What do you think?
